Factions walking in my Capital region = war?

Playing as Byzantium, a crusade was just called so naturally the catholics start walking through my land. Then I notice after one turn that Hungary and Poland are now at war with me.
After being confused for a few minutes I did some tests and it seems if any army walks in the constantinople region then that faction is then at war with me.
Is this intended or is it some kind of bug?

It is not intended, unless you attack the crusader army then any catholic faction that has joined the crusade will declare war against you.

I think it's a bug. Seen it many times myself. Any time a Crusading army enters the Constantinople region, that faction is automatically at war with Byzantium. No sieges or attacks, just an automatic state of war.

I havn't attacked and the crusade is aimed at Egypt so there's no normal reason I'd be at war with them. I don't suppose anyone else has experienced this bug or knows how to fix it?

I don't think this was always the case astleast not in my experience. I havn't played in a long time, but one of my first campaigns in SS 6 was as the byz and remember attacking a Venice crusader army with four other armies already passed constanoble without war. What era are you playing in? I was in early i think.

Ive only had this once. as sicily, one of my generals was returning from a crusade on Frankfurt and crosses through venetian lands. Since they had quite a large territory, i spent a few turns on their land. After a few messages telling me that relations had worsened i found myself at war with them. i had no ports blockaded, no cities besieged, nothing..

Awesome. Is it possible to make it so that other factions don't walk through your region without military access unless they intend to attack? Or maybe so that they send a diplomat to ask for it.

I never get it, though I play as Turks, and I don't usually have Catholics in my land.

Is this a bug in SS or vanilla?

Does it have something to do with the script for the fourth crusade?

I"m not sure if the bug is exclusive to SS or not, I can't remember the last time I played vanilla.
And yeah, I'm playing in the early era.

Happens to me quite often playing as Byzantium. And it doesn't seem to matter if you react or not. The crusading faction will get hostile with you.

Is normal.A catholic warmaschine arive in the wealtiest region of the knowed world and look they are not obbedient to pope.Lets sack them.Dont look like a bug more like a something set it.Imagine you get a stack of germans knights, now you walk to far east muslim undead generals or will take the city.Dread or chilvary?In this situation chilvary mean poor finance, dread...ok i will buy some indulgengence frommy friend the pope.

Actually the byzantines used to supply alot of the constant mini crusades and major crusades (for a fee of course) through their lands,and woundered why these silly catholics travelled east to make war,especially when their religion preached peace,religion i shall never understand.

Is an old thing, what you plan can fail in realty.When asking huge armys to atack muslims because you are to weak to do it yourself you can discover you became a very ineresting target.Dont set a trap is posible to be trapped.
Is very important to know greeks never recognise the supremacy of papacy so if in declaration was like "cristian brotherhood" in reality was just an heretical and barbarian filter of minds.When I was english or franch in vanilla games, and I go to crusade and I reach Greece I have it 2 choices:
1.Buy a cog and set sail to holy lands(bleah!)
2.Sack Constantinople(wow a big city, full developed, full of money, poor garison, tempting).

Its good that Gracul has said that he will look at this and see what can be done to correct it, its seems highly irregular that the catholic factions would want to attack the Byzantines on the way to the Holyland. Historically the Byzantines were incredibly tolerant of the Crusaders entering their lands. In the early crusades the Byzantines could have easily been provoked to declaring war, when a disorganised rabble of Christians who were hellbent on causing trouble along the way. The early Crusaders caused much trouble in Hungary and had little respect or understanding of people in this area.
It suited the Byzantines to be tolerant as their real enemy was the Seljuks, so it was natural for them to provide assistance.

If you play as the Byzantines and you have Catholic factions walking though your provinces, just ignore them and they will not attacked you. It happened to me twice already as I was playing as the Byzantines and had the Catholics marching on the way to the Holy Land.
