    SonOfCrusader76,

Look through all of your settlements and see which ones have strong support for you, then move out those garrisons and merge them into your armies.

Go after a couple of large towns or cities and you'll start bringing in a fair few thousand more. Becareful though, 5 or 6 of the larger towns have garrison scripts and if you have to pull away from that settlement after the garrison spawns then you're going to be facing another full stack on the battlefield.

Use your starting 10,000 to build 3 or 4 economic buildings, they really do help.

Taking Oxford will give you a monthly cash bonus because of it's treasury.

Don't let your starting armies get wiped out, they have experience bonuses and you'll want to keep them upto strength.

Lastly, try to enjoy the challenge! The way the country was sliced up between Royals/Parliament makes it very difficult to prevent enemy forces entering your territory. Also I tried to make FKoC deliberately tough by giving the AI big cash bonuses that help it to build large armies.

    Good luck!

Open your M2TW folder, find the fkoc folder, select it and delete it.

but one question: is it possible to mod the tight formation of the infantry, in that way, that the man stand really close to another, like in 18th century ?
Yes but if this will result in the men bumping into each other and slowing down the rate of fire as they revolve ranks.

    - is there any chance - any possibility in a .txt or whatever or is it hardcoded ?
It's quite simple to change. Open up the export_descr_units.txt and search for a musketeer unit, say roundhead stamford musketeers. Find this line:

    formation 1.2, 1.2, 1.6, 1.6, 3, square

Change it according to these rules:

    ;
; formation soldier spacing (in metres) side to side, then front to back for close formation
; followed by the same measurements in loose formation.
; followed by the default number of ranks for the unit
; followed by the formations possible for the unit. One or two of
; square, horde, schiltrom, shield_wall, phalanx, testudo, or wedge

So in FKoC each man stands on the corner of a square 1.2M x 1.2M.

    Cheers

That's the miles sound library for M2TW. If it can't find that then your M2TW installation is corrupted. You need to re-install M2TW.

Ah it runs perfect now !

And the best is: tight formations aere working ! (I did not recognized what you meant, when you said that the man will bump into another - they don't !)

I put it on 0.8,0.8,0.8,0.8 ... - It only works well, when i click on loose formation (so wider formation) - then my men store themselfes together to a nice tight block or line !!!
    ----------------------
(i did not forget that you would like to play, but i guess on weekend would be better ... i will tell you ! )

So here are some further questions for changings which make the mod even more realistic and give a better feeling of battles:

1.) Mortars are niw very strong, can tear down 20 man without any problem - with on shot - BUT:
Culverins and Canons are not as strong as the Mortar - they only kill men, who stands in row, not really an Area-attack
    - can it be changed ? so that 3 men and the row after them would be killed ? It is just - because Artillery is not strong enough to take really a big roll in battle - and yes i know the org. FKoC setting
is the most realistic i know, but i would prefer a usefull artillery in this case only ...

2.) Is it possible to tell the KI, that it should put there batallions in a usefull line-formation ? so no metter how much m,en, everytime a row of 3 men, not 7 or 8 they do now ...
    - that is the only, you win allmost every time against KI, look:

    - in the Test Area of TW (don't know the englich name - "grasvalley" ? ) : when i killed 50% off my opponent, i lost around 25-30%, even less ...
Because i let my man stand in line of 50 soldiers, 3 in a row (153 per batallion) - but the KI try to stop my with square-formation like 8x20 or even worse ideas of taking part of a battle ...

    - if the KI got a few preferences, like most possible width of line of army or somethign like that - it would even more challange the player.
    - The KI would be a real opponent !!!

Please tell, that there is a way to fix that - whould make the mod perfect, really perfect !

3.) How can i increase accuracy of muskets ? (just a little bit ) ???
    -----------------------

You should try one more time to play with tight formations, it's even more authentical and looks great , just great !

First of all I'd like to know how you fixed your problem?

And the best is: tight formations aere working ! (I did not recognized what you meant, when you said that the man will bump into another - they don't !)
Unfortunately they do bump into each other and their rate of fire drops as a result, it was tested thoroughly by EDU stats expert, point Blank.

Ok and to answer your questions:

    1) Mortars should be strong, they were the most devistating of all artillery due to having explosive shells. Their range should be limited to about 200 meters however.

    2) Normally we say "AI" not "KI" The AI formations are set exactly as the players are. Unfortunately M2TW's AI is not designed to for the pike/musket era and after long discussions with Grandviz (an AI expert) it's impossible to force the AI to stay in formation.

    3) Look in the projectiles file.

    Cheers

I downloaded FKoC the other day it got a good chance to play the campaign today. I am stunned beyond belief. Maybe its the era, maybe its the map (Maybe its the absolutely AWEsome battles) but this has to be the best mod I've played in my eight years of Total War gaming. Thank you AlphaDelta for this stunning mod!

I just wanted to say a big THANKS to AlphaDelta. I just have discovered this mod for the first time, and i really love this period (the pike and musket warfare), also it is amazing how realistic and well done are the models and give a really good inmersion (just like BC), i really like that it is a historical mod and will make me learn a lot from england on this period
Thank you very much for this, this is what i wanted empire total war to be, good old pike and musket.

Excellent mod thank you for the time it took to make. Ive rediscovered Med 2 mods, trying to get a satisfactory TW experience (ETW has me pullin my hair out due to bugs hehe) and this fine MOD is just what i was looking for.

ECW Pike and Musket is great Era that dosn't get much gaming attention, and i really like the way the combat works, sorta more simple but but more realistic at the same time.

The pistol skirmishing horse, and Swedish style charges are magnificant , and something sorely missing from ETW.

I play with Banners off, and Phonex's graphic enhancement, and it's like a whole new TW game.

One question - any other fine mini mods pple play with this ?

PS> Im running Vista 64 bit and installation was a bit troublesome (dang microsoft and there nuts security) but with some manual movement of files i got it working nps.

I haven't played M2 for a long time, an have completely become accustomed to Empire, so when I loaded up a Campaign and saw the opening map and graphics, I thought, What a load of crap. Then giving it a go, You start to look around the place, Building browser and what not, an I completely fell in love with it, The Generals, unit cards and pretty much everything including the amazing music.

I've only played a couple of battles but crying out loud, The units are breathtaking, an what a difference from Empire, it's so smooth and fast, it's unbelievable. sadly though, I've only had 3 battles thus-far against the royalist swines and lost everyone , I'm still coming to terms with the game-play and how to best utilize musket-men.

I think it's the best mod I've downloaded since Citadel: Total War for Rome, Like that mod, in FKoC you really do get a feel of the era involved.

    Cheers lads

I'm eagerly awaiting future developments especially having a crack with the Presbyterian Scots.
