I probably missed something, but is there a reason why my javelin thrower guys cost 33486 gold? lol.. its almost impossible to defend against the inevitable macedonian doom, on turn 2

Heh, that's in the FAQ. It's a revolt CTD fix. They're only there so something is possible to buy, not for you to actually buy.

As for Macedonian doom, I assume you mean as the Greeks. I find them too easy, actually. You should be able to stomp them if you move decisively against Euboea and Corinth on the first turn. Your Athenians can hold off a Mac attack long enough for you to take Corinth and back them up with your Spartans.

They are also useful for blowing money on to try to keep your coffers less than 50k so your characters don't start taking on bad traits.

At least that's what I think happens once you get over 50k :hmmm:

Did you or the AI accidentally buy one of the revolt CTD units first turn? I've never seen that happen.

I bought a few units, most of which only cost about like 1,000 denari, maybe like 600. I also bought that regional pacification, i think a few shrines.

like 2nd turn i was -33000

ok i just tested, without buying a thing.

i start with like 11k
2nd round i get 6000
3rd i get 2000
4th i get 241
5th i get -2445

Ok, that's more normal. Without economic management, most empires will go into debt early on.
