Why is Your Religion the True Religion?

Simply put, many that search this part of the forums have some sought of religious views, whether they be about worshipping a god(s), or not worshipping a higher diety. Now logically, if we weren't convinced that our religious views were correct, we wouldn't be part of that religion. So what I want this thread to be about is for everyone to say not just what belief they are, but WHY they believe that it's the true religion?

All views and opinions are welcome, but please don't turn this into a flame thread. All that your post should say is WHY you think your religion is the right one, and not pay out others that have different beliefs than yours. Polite debating is encouraged though

For me cuz Jesus said so... lol ok there's more to it but also because I researched others in comparison, did searching, asked God to make Himself known to me and that's just the short short version of all of this lol but that's why I believe.

I think you should delve a bit deeper in your answers. So obviously your a Christian. What denomination are you? And why do you think that particular denomination is the true one, over the numerous other Christian religions? What sets your religion apart? You say God made himself known to you, but how does that make you say "wow, God made himself known, I'm going to be a Catholic now". Why not an Anglican for example?

I am a Lutheran -- but your question is somewhat off point. I do not believe that you are wrong in your belief. My belief is a basis for how I must live my life and not a basis to judge others. Such live and let live is necessary if we are not going to murder each other off for our beliefs. This is why the USA constitution was amended and the first amendment reads:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I don't see my religion as the one true religion. Most neopagans share the sentiment, and Wicca particularly has that as a core principle.

Our view is one of many valid belief systems, that suits us based on our personal attitude and beliefs. In this case, a reverence for the natural world and a belief in polytheism and animism.
But just because we have our own beliefs and see them as right for us, that does not make someone else's beliefs any more or less valid for them.

Simply put, because it's mine. Enough said. However, I'd indeed welcome some ecumenist co-operation between the big 3 abrahamic religions though, would be far better than constantly baring teeth at people of similar religions

I don't think that you can be a true Christian a say: "my religion is the one true religion, and only those who follow this religion can be saved". I am an Orthodox Christian, been so from birth, and not intending to change it. I once talked to an orthodox monk, who said something that completely changed my views on God and religion. He said: "As the Good Book tels us, i believe that there is a Hell, but i am also convinced that that place is empty".

Well personally i dont believe in worshipping something i believe is not real, There is no proof that there real, and there is no proof that they arent, But to say something like the bible is the truth is wrong, Im willing to bet its man made, and man made revisions has been made over the years, Say take the mormon faith, There founder of mormons claimed god spoke to him, heh i could create my own religion claiming that god spoke to me if that was the case.

But i dont wish to start flaming so ill stop, there is no reason why i dont believe in a religion, i just dont, maybe if there was just one god for everything, and not just one god for everything for every language THEN it would be believable. Dont get me wrong, religion has brought good things to this world, but its brung alot more worse things, many of our problems today derive from religion.

My faith says that my religion is for me because I am of that culture. Other cultures have their religion and that is ok. They will see their gods when they die, and I will live amongst mine.

This is how things used to be, but sadly with the advent of some middle eastern faiths, it is not so anymore.

I don't believe there is a True religion. They all exist for the direct benefit of their clergy, and if those parasites get first dibs on Paradise I don't want anything to do with it.
