Cant use Hotseat, HELP!
Hey guys, i am very baffled. :hmmm:
I've been waiting for some form of multiplayer campaign forever, and never even heard about the hotseat mode for MTW2 until today lol. So, i went and got the 1.02 Patch (1.2 patch i mean) and finally got that installed, everything runs good. I even went in and set my config file to the settings mentioned in other posts. So i figured I was all set to go.
However, upon starting the game, i found there is no Hotseat option under multiplayer. Just your normal LAN battles and Online battles.
So, could somebody please, please explain to me how to start a hotseat game? its probably something really stupid im missing, but I cant figure it out and need some help. I would be forever indebted to whoever can explain what to do! Id even buy you dozens of monkey slaves! i swear!
Im running Vanilla MTW2, version 1.3 now.

Re: Cant use Hotseat, HELP!
I should mention that I have already tried Retrofit, that only works for Kingdoms i guess, and I couldnt find any other Hotseat launchers that were for Vanilla MTW2. Anybody know whats going on?......

Re: Cant use Hotseat, HELP!
Found the answer myself. Since there is a major lack of information regarding this, here is the instructions on how to setup Hotseat mode for Regular Medieval Total War II:
http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic/629
Its located in question #32. Contrary to the URL name, it is actually the forum for Medieval Total War II, not Shogun.
specifically, you have to change your Medieval2.preferences.cfg file to have this sections if your running vs 1.2 or above:
[hotseat]
turns = 0
scroll = 0
autoresolve_battles = 0
disable_console = 0
disable_papal_elections = 0
save_prefs = 1
update_ai_camera = 0
validate_diplomacy = 1
[multiplayer]
playable = 1
OR, you can copy your medieval .cfg file, rename it multiplayer.cfg as the tutorial states, and then create a .bat file that will launch Medieval II with instructions to run form the multiplayer.cfg instead of the normal cfg.
I think the key to the whole thing was the last part, the
[multiplayer]
playabel = 1
I didnt have that orignally, that was the only difference between my regular .cfg and the one i had to create, so guessing that was what actually enabled Hotseat mode.
Anyways, hope this helps any other prospective hotseat players
