Desperate editing!
Need to change a couple of things in-game, so I thought I'd come here!
One is a major bug that seemingly only plagues me: my AI doesn't seem to recognise walls being taken by the enemy in a siege unless under extreme circumstances - i.e. I have 5 men left against 1000.
I suppose that technically isn't a problem but for it's knock-on effect: AI doesn't recognise the courtyard of my castle as 'sacred ground'. Specifically, the defences will fire on my men, typically with disastrous results. The most glaring example being cannon defences - the towers will wipe out entire units of my troops trying to get to one fleeing enemy. Needless to say, it's not the greatest experience in the world watching your troops get mown down by your own defences.
Currently I'm using Stainless Steel 6.1 and assorted other minimods. Why I say it's only affecting me is because no one else has reported this problem, and their support team seems to be at a loss as to why this is happening to me and only me. I've reinstalled several times and purged my hardrive of absolutely everything to do with M2TW, but each reinstallation reveals that nothing has changed.
Someone on the boards suggested tweaking battle_mechanics might help but neither he, nor I (or anyone else, apparently) has a clue about where to look or what to tweak, so I thought to bring my problem here for some DIY correcting.
Thing is, I remember playing vanilla sieges and I'd constantly get walls lost/won messages, not to mention that even before the walls were lost, my men weren't being blown to hell by my defences. I'm pretty sure the problem lies in the AI either treating the inside of the castle the same as the outside or the AI suddenly losing it's ability to to gauge when the walls are lost (doesn't that mean defences shut down?).
Any help given would be very, very much appreciated!
