a think a year would be handy too my friend
good idea of a topic LT
but i'll have to look it up, dunno it without checking![]()
I can't remember honestly.. my last campaign kind of ground to a halt as I knew you'd probably end up making a new SPQR version with the superfaction addon, and I wanted to save up my SPQR hype for then.
This is technical information needed to make the next version better just load your saved game and see how far in time you got and how many factions you conquered and how many provinces you owned.
LT,
First of all - GREAT news with the update! Not sure if the below will be of any help but here goes:
I have maybe a different gameplay style since I like to keep as many factions alive as long as possible. I normally stop killing them off when they are down to one settlement. So estimated year below mean they are down to one settlement but I could in fact easily wipe them out. I let them live just for the fun of it ...
I also tend to send an army to conquer settlements of Legio X and Legio Macedonia around 205-200 BC cause those two legions are my favorites and the first ones I build up after Marius.
Sardinia and Palma 205 BC
Macedon 200 BC
Greece (incl Asia Minor settlements) 180 BC
Sicily & Dacia 160 BC
Iberia & Senate 140 BC
Seleucid 130 BC
Gaul 100-110 BC
Land owned by Romans:
205 BC: 12 settlements
200 BC: 15 settlements
180 BC: 25 settlements
160 BC: 35 settlements
140 BC: 50 settlements
120 BC: 60 settlements
Can't remember after that since I no longer keep those save games ...
Not sure if this was what you wanted?
Sulla
See people are doing basically the same, they dont seem to destroy carthage. Now you will need to destroy carthage if you wish to get Marius reforms.
Well i would like to destroy it but it's annoying to take that settlement in the sahara, so in my current game ( stopped playing cuz i will start a new campaign with 7.0 ) i tried to kill all familiy members with assasins...
Wouldn't it be possible to let the marian reforms appear after the roman player has captured the african coast, for example Carthago, Hadrumetum, Leptis Magna and Sitifensis?
in my game Carthago didn't own the 2 dessert settlements
i destroyed Carhago as Cato asked![]()
i tried to do it a bit historicaly. first take iberia like scipio did afther taking iberia i would have gone for carthage. the reason why i didn' t take it before greece and macedon was greece was getting to strong thy where beating macedonia hard. that s why i took greece before carthage. when i finisht killing of the greeks macedone started attacking me. so my legions where occupied with defeating macedone. i only played with 6 invasion legions. afther i destroyed macedone my next move would be taking out carthage.

yeah, understand that
Greece has to be stopped before they conquer the world
aaanyhow:
year= 177BC
territory: 30 regions
own: whole of italia, the coast of Iberia at the mediteranian side, whole of northern africa and Locus Garamantes (damn senate asked me to conquer it)
and the coast between iberia and italie, massilia actually
just starting the invasion of Greece
but haven't played in like 6 months or something
but i'll start playing again soon, cause the reason i didn' play anymore was because i wanted to come with my AAR at the same year as i am in my campaign, and since i didn't write anymore......
but good news, today, 5 minutes ago actually, i just caught up
so i'll start playing again soon

Well with the superfaction fix you really dont have to worry about Greece except the fact the may invade you from time to time. I would suggest just taking 1 province from them IF they seem to attack macedon, its hard to sometimes stop the AI, it seems if they player isnt threatening them a little they turn even on their superfaction. lol But I have dont test and when ROME was strong making the units better etc so they didnt die out Greece would stay put, but if I let the AI control Rome without the bonuses and Rome was overrun, Greece ran out of enemies and turned on Macedon. But overall if you are still alive Greece will stay put.
Remember the Battle Map is MUCH different for Greece now. They are only in Greece.
See here is the Updated map of where provinces are in the SPQR 7.0
looks good
only:
- Germania seems to have not so much settlements :hm:
- Makedonia in Asia Minor... i know it's to stop Greece.... but can't you put Thrace in Asia Minor?
or use a free faction slot to make a "Greeks living in Asia Minor" faction or something? :hm:
i know it's to stop Greece, but makedonia in asia minor.......![]()
What difference does it make there all greek technically. lol Personally there is NO WAY around it without a new map with more provinces. As macedon needs a certain number of provinces to be a threat to the player.
As to Germany they have alot really about 12 provinces which is a good average number. Thrace is the one with Few provinces then the units the have are kinda dull anyway IMO.
Provinces per Faction
Germany 12 + 1 the one they take right above them.
Macedon 9
Gauls 14
Carthage 14 But they lose the one in Italy fast
Greeks 10
Dacia 9
Scythia 12
Armenia 13
Parthia 11
Pontus 9
Seleucid 9
Egypt 10
Britons 8
Thrace 6
ha this looks good.province partition looks good.

Why do the Carthagians do not longer have the Balerares?
Last edited by themrwho; November 16, 2008 at 04:04 PM. Reason: typo
Other nations did the same an they still have their old provinces^^
No other nations didnt. lol
The Egyptians, Greeks and Carthaginians were the biggest offenders of this, also if you notice they are all Agressive factions. So what happened is Carthage focused in Iberia, allowing the player to take Africa with ease. Greece move over to Asia Minor and defended it with its life and left GREECE easy pickings. And Egypt was in the middle of th desert with a tone of units leaving Alexandria open as well as the coast line.
The other factions like Germany, Gaul, Pontus, thrace, Armenia, seleucid pretty much stayed the same on their capital. Really its NO big deal for nations with a small empire but the ones that have province strung out it makes a BIG difference.
Middleeast had the biggest province switches as Armenia is a Buffer to the now agressive parthia, Seleucid gained and lost some provinces as did egypt. You can compare the 2 maps and see the difference.
