There appears to be an interesting decision in the works with regard to the Secretary of State position.

How does the community feel about this consideration? Is the democratic party trying to bridge some hurt feelings? Do you think it will only create further divisions between the two in terms of policy?

I think there can be some merit to Clinton in the cabinet. Take out your opposition to a 2012 reelect run now. Every politician starts running the next race as soon as the results are in on the current race. Why should Obama be any differant?

I don't know why he would want Hillary in Sec. of State. Does he really want the Bill Clinton hanging around the White House and showing up in foreign capitals for photo ops? I think Obama (pbuh) may be overconfident in the love he's getting from the world right now. Eventually He isn't going to be so popular. Doesn't this mean "the World" will get Clinton?
Isn't foreign relations what the position of secretary of state is about?

I don't think many people in "the World" will be disappointed when the American universal health care turns out to be a disaster or when taxes in America skyrocket.

Keeping Clinton in the public eye may be in the interests of the Democrats since she is a prospective presidential candidate for 2016. As long as she doesn't mess anything up big time then a stint as sec. of state could do wonders for her ellectability. Maybe that's part of the thinking behind it.

Isnt most of his appointments ex Clintonites? This is change you can believe in? Their excuse is Obuma isnt experienced enough to have that many people of his own to fill these spots.

Isn't Colin Powell under consideration for Secretary of Education, and Robert Gates being considered to retain his job? They're not exactly two flaming liberals, are they?

Quite possibly - replacing Bush era hacks in FEMA with say J. Witt might not be a new guy right out of collage but it would be change and very likely positive...

I think it may work against Obama in terms of re-election. Hillary might do a poor job, or she may do a really good one- either way, does Obama really want this? In general I dislike the idea of political families like the Clintons, Bush, Kenndy's, etc, but this worrying trend seems more or less undeniable.

It's been going on for years. The Adams in the start of the country, the Roosevelts in the 20th century(TRs grandson overthrew the Iranian prime minister in the 50s I think as a CIA agent) the Kennedys, and now the Bushs and Clintons.

He places Hillary in State then Im gonna have to say my hope for Obama being a good president will take a huge hit. She is a polarizing figure and she will attempt to overshadow him, she couldnt even stay in the background as first lady. This would be huge mistake, there are dozens of other picks who are more qualified for the position and dont have the baggage. I thought this was the presidency for change...not presidency for bringing back people who are in large part to blame for the economic blow up we are now facing.
