    Default Scripting help!

    Wanting to do some tweaking of the campaign script, and hopefully someone here should be able to help me - I want to start the game with Egypt owning Jerusalem and first crusade being (accurately) Jerusalem (instead of Cairo or Gaza). I'd also like to introduce the emerging Jerusalem script that everyone seems to talk about but I can't find anywhere. Finally, I'd like to remove Constantinople from the Jihad list and introduce, say...the whole of the middle east to the list.

    Instructions?

    horde_targets and crusade and jihad targets are specified in the descr_regions.txt file. (which is in the base folder.)

    Keep in mind that altering descr_regions.txt will require deletion of map.rwm to pick up the changes.

    You'll need to edit descr_strat.txt to give Jerusalem to the Fatimids at start. You essentially need to move the settlement and garrison sections for Jerusalem from the Rebel section to the Fatimid section. This also rquires deletion of map.rwm to pick up the changes.

    Link for Master Zuma's Early Jerusalem Emergent script can be found in the "Released Mods for SS 6.x" thread in the Sticky section of this forum. IIRC, there's one typo in the script that needs to be corrected for proper functioning (a "factiontype Jerusalem" that should be "factiontype jerusalem").

    As a general proposition, you can find tutorials on these alterations in the Mod Workshop forum. That's always my first stop when attempting a change I haven't done before.

    Bump! Thanks a lot aduellist, I've been experimenting with some scripting on my own, but never deleted map.rwm file, hence always failed miserably..gonna try your input ASAP!

    edit: is there only a single map.rwm file? I seem to remember reading about there being several...

    Oh sugar, I forgot the most important question: can I edit the family member limit? i.e. what do I tweak to get more family members?

    If by "family member limit" you mean the number of children per couple allowed, that's in descr_campaign_db.xml. The entry you're looking for is

    Code:
          <max_number_of_children uint="4"/>
    Increasing that number above 4 is reportedly fatal to the game, causing a CTD.

    Bugger. Now, I'm clinging to a slim hope here...is 'reportedly' 100% accurate?
