Hey PM
Ages of darkness 1 had a special Foederati-system. It was required to build a special building, the foederati settlement, and then it was possible to recruit new units. What about aod2?
AoD2 will follow the example of AoD1. However, we will introduce an inovative new system of foederati settlements. That comes "hand in hand" with a completely new and overhauled building tree.
An example:
If the region X - owned by the huns with certain hun-buildings and installations - is conquered by the Romans, then Romans are able to recruit hunnic allied troops.
(there is a difference between Symmachoi and Phoideratoi)
this is possible because we use several new technics, partially known from Europa Barbarorum. But we will have our own system, especially made for the ending late antique.
This and a lot of other improvements will come.
where can i find a list of features for AoD2? and what's the latest progress report? (percent done, etc.)
Hi ironic,
to give an exactly number about "what is done in percent" is too difficult. We have every day new ideas and the mod-folder becomes bigger and bigger.
The highest priority atm has our unit-pool.
new religions (beside the 3 default religions)
an absolutely new recruiting system
new buildings in general
very professional new sound-tracks
new loading screens
a completely new map (-unique for a RTW or BI mod - atm we include grafical textures from M2TW)
a new interface
new phantastic faction symbols
a new Phoideratoi/Symmachoi recruiting system
an absolutely new historical unit-pool for the Sassanid empire with new buildings. Also little detailes like emblems from important sassanid houses are included. This system will provide a new play-feeling. That's for sure. All other infos are top secret ;-)
new unique units concerning the 6th century-romans - in our opinion some important roman units were (partially) totally different compared to the 4th and early 5th century. That's the reason why we have to overhaul everything! Details are top secret and come with the next preview.
New unit-pools for Vandals, goths (both nationes), Franks, Lombards and Burgunds.
Futhermore we offer scripts like the "Nica riots" - this event will provide new enemies from the political parties (the so called factiones). Details are coming soon.
complete new and overhauled ancillaries. With special program-codes it is possible for us to activate new titles in the future while playing.
it is important for us to produce a "dark age - feeling". The game tries to give a melancholic feeling, so the player will see immediately that a new era beginns.
...hope that's enough for the moment...
wow. this is a must download. can't wait! this sounds like a completley new game, not just a mod! awesome job to you and your team!
Hello Kilo11,
the textures from M2TW are not taken 1:1 into AoD2. Most of them are re-worked that everything fits the engine. So, don't worry about the campaign.
The 3D Battles however will have a complete new vegetation - and the empio-unit-models have a bigger kilobyte-size. In this case I fear you need at least a better computer - but don't worry - you don't need an high-end-machine.
The religions we offer are basically those which were relevant for the time era of the mid-to-late 6th century. Details will be published in future if we make a preview about the religions/churches/temples of AoD2 etc etc.
Best Regards
PM
Cool. I should be fine then. I can play M2TW, it just sucks a bit on my computer (lagging, choppy, etc), but if it's all changed to work within the Rome engine, I should be able to handle it.
And it's cool to have relevant religions. One quick question on those (if I'm not breaching any secrecy clauses), will there be any factions that can create synagogues, or in some way promote Judaism? Cause I'm playing the IBFD mod right now, which is the first one I've ever noticed Judaism in, and I thought it was pretty cool. But even in that one, as far as I know, there aren't any synagogues anywhere, just a small percentage of Jews in some territories on starting, but I think they are all gone pretty quickly, since the churches, and neighboring Christian territories kinda convert them away. It would just be cool if Jews were a more persistent element, cause historically, it didn't matter how many churches there were, or whether they were in a place completely surrounded by incredibly devout Christian lands, Jews didn't really convert. They'd just semi-settle, live for a while until the host country drove them out, then semi-settle in the next territory over... ad infinitum. I just think it would be interesting, and more historical, if there was always some amount of Jewish people, who maybe migrate slowly between lands. Or maybe follow the actual migration/exodus of the Jewish peoples throughout that time period. I don't know, just a thought. I've always thought it would be cool to find some way to make sure they couldn't be eliminated, since historically, despite a huge amount of persecution and adversity, they always survived and remained Jewish.
indeed. A great concept. can't wait too!
Will this be a modification which installs over the original or no?
Also, how far into the work are you?
AC Barbarian Invasion1 no download link is ok?
Yes, how is progress?
Game of the Fates
Mod of the week on hold -- I've played nearly every RTW mod out there.
BOYCOTT THE USE OF SMILEYS!(Okay, just once)
Antiochos VII...last true scion of the Seleucid dynasty...rest in peace, son of Hellas.
I've returned--please forgive my long absence.
I cant wait to play this mod is there a release time? I hope soon because this isnt a very widely done time period.
When do you think we can see some more skins??
i wanna see some italo goths haha
keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!!
"ANY person, country or race who use's religion as a pretext to kill or conquer deserves neither Religion nore Name"
Oh, we have a lot of skins prepared. At the moment we are preparing the unit tree. Several factions are finished and playable. The progress is really good. However, other factions need more time. We have one of the best modellers in the team - Empio - and he made perfectly designed models and skins.
Even for the Romans a lot of units are finished now - a lot more is in work.
But I want wait a little bit longer concerning a new preview. Several items are top secret. If you see the result you will know why. ;-)
