That's great news that it will be out soon! Is the next release the 1.0 version or something else?

Indeed. I was merely making a point. There are examples of highs and lows throughout history. My last point was done by myself in mail and chausses, though not always-knights were not always geared up, with 65lbs. on my back. I had plenty of time for revelry. I got lots of sleep. I was never so tired as to be done with it all. Dude, but the attention. My French is pretty good so I had lots of fun. Oh, uh-huh! Soldiers today are not far form that and in many cases take on more. The medieval man was in a lot better shape. Knights wore armour more as a second skin. Imagine an NFL player, in Armour. Can of Whip Ass! Not Soccer(closer to Rugby).................American Football. 40-50 kgs difference. Nor did they have to suck in the polluntants we do. Worldwide. They were healthier hands down. I weigh 100kgs, 9% fat. In great physical shape. I have had the pleasure of wearing armour and could move about as if on a stick-jump.
When you correlate Seward to Constantine or even Machiavelli or a few other choice authors, like Marc Bloch you can see through the bs and get a real answer. You have to play the whole game. You cannot just rely on one good egg. Were that the case, we'd all be speaking German.

Great feat, SOG. Impressive, very impressive. Keep in mind though, that you weren't marching through hostile territory, didn't have to forage, weren't constantly harrassed by locals and a mile long baggage train didn't follow you.
To say the least... Also, may I ask, why did you do that? What was the purpose?
As for Seward, he gives you just a general picture (quite often refuted, btw).
His numbers are inadequate, and if you just read how he portrays the characters (the man puts his own opininon as a fact), you understand that he isn't the most reliable source.
@oam
take your time, mate. We're patiently waiting. And if I may be of any help, PM me again, don't hesitate.
I agree on a gameplay point. It's impossible to implement and simulate all conditions and events.
@Rufats, for some 25odd years I have been with international SCA. WHOA! But get this, in service, all my time in service and on leave I have had opportunity to do the odd thing and get out and test my own knowledge of the history of war. So get this I have lots of friends in France, England, Germany and we get together now and again and just do the the obsurd. Get drunk, plow about and have fun. So one night, my friend Mike Jenkins overhears me with some Gehts(sorry Germans) about HYW. We were challenged to make a march from one hold to another and as the cheers went on it got longer. My friend, Spyder, said he had the mail. So Mike's all "We're doin' it". I said no. He said from Groningen to Poitiers. I said Paris. And There It Was. It was like an old Michael Yorke movie. We got drunk. Cruised around and had fun. Women were into it. We ended up in Brest before it was all done. But long after the test. I left for Ireland after that and back to the States. Mike went back to Groningen. We all talk about doing it again. That was 6 years ago.
I was paid CIV CRT at the time. I had been out of the US service for 10 years. I contract for the good deals.
My education is Bachelors of Science; History; emphasis on Military History. Speciality; 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th Centuries of Warfare.
My next series of misadventures would be battlefields of the Prince of Ligne. Frederick the Great, FeldMarshalls Loudon, Lacy and Ndasti of the Imperial Order. In no short order.
If I could find an Austrian 3lbs. ball at old Leuthen. My life would be made. I would die happy. My great(by many times) uncle Gerd von Rotheschilde was there. He was one of the Grenadiers of Austria holding the church when my long distant cousin Earnste von der Klasse charged in with the Liebgarde Preusse, Bataillon Ein. I want that closure. I want to present that to my family. It wasn't a civil war. Germans against Germans. If you knew me, you would see my pride.

For some reason, I cannot install the mod... can somebody tell me where to extract everything to? Which folder etc?
Thanks!
Cheers
Rookey: Have a look at this post I made a while ago (I hope it helps):

I don't remember if I said it, but you need patches 1.1 and 1.2 (at least) for the game to work. You don't need kingdoms.
PS: Condottiere: lmao. Pretty trashed, new years eve, eh? Good going!
AND HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!
Well, maybe we can make a new trait, called "chevauché" which will increase the travel distance for the general who owns it. What about it?

10 new captain models (campaign map) to download
I've been lurking [hence the name] for a few days and came across this mod today. I downloaded v0.7 & v8., but they don't seem to be working. This is what I did;
- I previously had CAE installed, but I uninstalled that. I then put v0.7 & v8. in my M2TW folder, but I think I deleted an important thing when I started deleted CAE (Which I realised I Shouldn't of started doing, and just click the uninstall, but oh well).
- I then uninstalled M2TW, then reinstalled it. My shortcut seems to have gone insane and died, so now I don't have a shortcut on my desktop, and this isn't really important.
- I have now put v8. of HYW into my folder, but not v0.7. What I am asking is - do I need both versions in the folder and then do what OAM suggested on Page 7? Or do I only need v8. and somehow get it done?
- I have deleted the map.rwm file, when I did have my doubts. I also have patch 1.1 & 1.2 for M2TW.
I've attached a screenshot of what the folder currently looks like. But here is just the image
Thanks for the response which I'm sure I'll get.

Lurker:
You need a clean M2TW. You also need patches 1.1 and 1.2. Try and play the game before you install the hundred year war mod, just to see if everything is working.
Then open the v0.8 RAR and open the v0.8 folder. There are three objects inside this folder. Transfer them into the Medieval II Total War folder.
To play double click the bat file (the medieval disc should be in the drive).
That should work.
I've already tried to play it without the mod, and it's fine (even with map.rwm file deleted). No files have been changed that I know of. To be sure, I'll uninstall it again and reinstall it. And then do what you just said.
Thanks for the help, I believe I will enjoy this mod. :]
Scratch what I just wrote, I didn't need to uninstall it, I just deleted the HYW folder, and then recopied them with what you said.
Thanks :]
To give feedback -
Such an awesome mod. I'm currently playing as Savoy and I really, really like how big the campaign map is, and how much more it has in the texture. Though, having one castle to supply all my troops is also great, and I like the idea of that. Thanks for putting this together. :]
Thanks for the feedback.
The next installment adding a lot of fun will come soon!
Just wondering, will this work with the kingdoms expansion? Or at least the medieval 2 patch 1.3? Thats all I have unstalled, and I really want to play this mod!!
By the way, just played it in regular medieval, and its awsome! Just wished it was for kingdoms too, so you could play hotseat.. But its good!
