Default MSNBC Joe Scarbarough says the F word.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3LoFH2c-OU

Gotta love the nervous little kid laughter afterwards from everyone.

So how is this political the mods may wonder...my only excuse is that it's where we get our news from and from where most people learn their politics.
It must now be O.K. to say the F word in public as per that south park episode, however please don't use any inappropriate language in this thread or on TWC.

See? Its quite difficult to swear here....

I really dont understand the fear attatched to swearing. There's only really one really taboo word left, and hopefully that will be gone too soon. They're just words, sounds strung together into something you recognise. And the descion of what is offensive or not is arbitary. For instance I dont believe " " is filtered, yet " " is (obviously). Yet they both mean the same thing. Its ridiculous. The easiest way to avoid people being offended by these words is to phase them into normal language. No one protests at "Moron" yet its meant as an inult in most cases.

EDIT : Ok it is. (imagine "Swat" minus the first letter and plus a 't' ) But it normal society its 100% more acceptable than the C-word. Why is that?

I think most people are taught to relate swearing with lowbrow behavior, or impolite, ignorant, rude/annoying people. Not swearing supposedly gives you class and maybe respect when arguing. I think it makes one human in appropriate situations.

30 years ago you couldn't show the inside of a toilet bowl on American TV. (the TV ads for toilet cleaning product from that era were quite funny).

So I think they have come a log way.

edit: but , what the do I know?

No, this time I'm serious: the inside of a toilet bowl has long been taboo in American society. saw that in a documentary once.

up until an episode of "All in the Family" you couldn't even have the sound of a toilet flushing off screen.

Alfred Hitchcock was one of the pioneers of getting toilets and flushes on to the screen.

i also remember a really old war type movie i saw where this guy and a girl sleep together. well, its implied. its also only implied that they were in bed together. the only thing u could see on screen was the shadow of the bed on the wall with their clothes draped over the foot board.

but man, the look on that guys face when he said it! thats priceless. u could make a mastercard commercial out of that. wish i could hear all that they were whispering in the back ground.

Is that why Americans say they "need to use the bathroom", when they mean the toilet?

Why hell shouldn't he swear? There are damn few words people understand, as it is.

This thread is providing me a rather edgy source of amusement.

One of the biggest problems with leadership is that sometimes people mistake strength of force as good leadership, when it in reality shows the opposite.

I love Joe Scarbarough. Too few reasonable people in punditry.

You'll love it. Mica is hot but hopelessly democratic, and Joe is one of the funniest guys on TV lol. But not in a Olbermann or Limbaugh way.

Oh... Freudian slips, where art thou?

The first time a toilet was shown on TV was on "Leave It To Beaver".

Well, there's really no need to swear on TV. I swear, and I'd rather not.

Swearing makes you look stupid. Honestly it does. It's probably the biggest turn off ever to hear someone just cussing up a storm.

I have to agree with that, Andre Massena. Swearing is tactless. I'm especially irritated if actors in films over-use the "f-word," or any other vulgar trash-talk, I mean, say something that actually has meaning. Only use swear words in films when it adds something to the situation, or tension. It seems that swear words are "filler," used when no other phrase could be thought of, oftentimes.

Bottom line is, the more often a swear word is used, the more it loses its original meaning. In my opinion, that does not make typical swear words any better though.

"The irony is that Americans have been experiencing a lot of change in their lives attributable to these historic events, and some of those changes have distressed many American families — job loss, failing schools, prohibitively expensive health care, pensions at risk, entitlement programs approaching bankruptcy, rising gas and food prices, to name a few. But your government often acts as if it is completely unaware of the changes and hardships in your lives. And when government does take notice, often it only makes matters worse."

I actually prefer more realistic films, that portray how a lot of people really talk and react, rather than a cliche.
