Why Are They So Under-Rated?

Right, so I'll get straight into it. Why is the band Bloc Party so under-rated? They are one of my favourite bands and they have great songs. Despite this they are pretty much unknown outside Great Britain and even in it many people wouldn't know them. They have to be one of the best British bands. I mean how can you not love this





To prove my point further, I'm going to use contrast . Lets talk about another British band, Scouting for Girls. In my opinion, they are seriously over rated , even their name is bad. Scouting for Girls is a ing verb God damn it! A title should be a noun, not a fu..... forget it, forget it, I'll complain about grammar later. The main problem with this band is that every one of their songs has a point where they just repeat the same words over and over again. ALL of their songs are like this. Just look



That is just the words, "She's so lovely" over and over and over again. I can write a song like that



This is just him singing about some girl and then out of nowwhere he starts saying Elvis isn't dead and I wish it was me you chose over and over again. That doesn't make any sense!

I seriously don't understand how Bloc Party can be so under-rated yet Scouting for Girls are all over the television with songs a 5 year old would probably make up on the spot

I agree with you. Silent Alarm is a brilliant album, A Weekend In The City isnt quite so good, and I dont really rate their new stuff at all.

I also agree about Scouting for Girls, a truly awful band. They actually had the gall to play London Calling at the "London 2012 Party"

Bloc Party are far from overrated.

Psychotic Waltz (perhaps my favourite band) on the other hand have only 5,156 listeners.



BP are much more popular than SFG anyway.

Well, when you see that crap bands like Scouting for Girls are all over the TV and get major awards and are performing at major award shows while Bloc Party don't get anything like that, you'll agree with BP are under-rated and SFG are over-rated

You know what "She's So Lovely" sounds just like? Every other Scouting For Girls song, that's what. Hate them.

Bloc Party on the other hand, are good. Some of their stuff is a bit too disjointed or experimental for my taste, but on the whole they're good. Although, I haven't got Intimacy yet. Mercury was alright, but Talons didn't really grab my attention as much.

To be honest, i dont know much about bloc party but some of my friends rate them very highly. From what i gather they're not out to appeal to the masses, unlike bands like scouting for girls. SFG are a fun, POP band. This is likely the reason that they play at these award shows and other public events. They aren't necessarily my taste, but it is kinda feel good music so i can see the appeal.

I agree. Their first album was pretty good, with some gems, but the second album was terrible. I won't be buying the third. Since album one, they seem to be releasing tracks that sound a bit like the first album, but lacking in imagination. I've heard them in interviews and they are extremely arrogant. They played a Liverpool Sound gig this year along with Paul McCartney and the Kaiser Chiefs claimed in an interview that Paul McCartney was supporting their act. Really? Really? Tossers.
