Icon13 Sarah Palin & Alaskan Independence Movement

    Wow... wow... wow...

How un-American is supporting the secession of a state?

Here's a YouTube video of Sarah Palin addressing the AIP convention and stating that she supports their goals:

At about six minutes in, the vice-chairman states Palin is the candidate the AIP wanted to be elected. He also says they need to be getting into the major political parties to achieve their goals:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4iCDBIAde8

So, John McCain, who is without question a true American Hero, paid so little attention to who he was choosing as his vice presidential candidate, he selected one with ties to an organization that actively refuses to identify themselves as Americans, and who tell their children that they aren't American... Incredibly insane. John McCain should have chosen Mike Huckabee as the running mate.

"The irony is that Americans have been experiencing a lot of change in their lives attributable to these historic events, and some of those changes have distressed many American families — job loss, failing schools, prohibitively expensive health care, pensions at risk, entitlement programs approaching bankruptcy, rising gas and food prices, to name a few. But your government often acts as if it is completely unaware of the changes and hardships in your lives. And when government does take notice, often it only makes matters worse."

You're right, we should rather open more topics about Obama not being a US citizen.

I know this may be old news, but the truth is out now; millions of McCain (and Palin...ugh) supporters have been decieved by the criminal...

I'm one of those who have been decieved by Palin's false patriotism...

Maybe if you hadn't only listened to Fox News and other crazy Right wing pundits you wouldn't be finding this stuff out now. GUESS WHAT? The rest of us knew most of the about Palin, just like we knew all of the about McCain (of which there is plenty). But you, you and the rest of your party decided to block your ears and close your eyes to it all out of blind party loyalty.

That is false patriotism. Congratulations, you almost ruined your country. I hope you and every other McCain supporter feel good about that.

Actually she seems to have the right idea. Secession is an option I am thinking of myself. Banishment more like it. Set off demolition charges on the San Andreas fault and let New York City become and independant country and problem solved.

...That's funny on so many levels...

    It's so Republican/Conservative/conservative/right-wing...

...cut off your nose to spite your face...lol...

EDIT: just to be clear, it's funny because the San Andreas fault is in/around California...and even if the crazy idea would work @95%+ of the country (including New York) would remain intact. Only the western parts of California would "separate"...lol

If that includes Los Angelos, Hollywood and SAN FRANCISCO than its enough. Rural California and Upstate New York are mostly conservative. I have a friend in New York near the finger lakes who has told me that no matter how him and every one in his area votes their candidates never win because of New York City.

Yep and even those few of us right slanted people in the city (mostly Staten Island) know 90% of our votes are basically worthless. We can play a deciding factor in mayor race, can put a member in congress but senate, governor, president? Waste of time.

Obama won 78% of Brooklyn, 75% of Queens, 88% of Bronx, 85% of Manhatten, Staten Island? 46%. Its why even the boro has toyed with the idea of breaking away from the city over the decades. If you look at the rest of the state however its very, very close even in areas that Obama won. Only the city is so ideologically screwed.

Hey, the OP didn't resort to flaming. He seems a decent poster and I think he deserves better than to be accused for "almost ruining his country" because he "shut his eyes out of blind party loyalty". His post in fact doesn't seem weighted with party fanaticism. Your post does.

alhoon is not a member of the infamous Hoons: a (fictional) nazi-sympathizer KKK clan. Of course, no Hoon would openly admit affiliation to the uninitiated.

It doesn't matter if he's a decent poster what matters is he, like many other Republicans, are only now deciding to actually LOOK at who they were supporting (not that the dems are much better but hey!). This stuff about Palin isn't new and while there has been some stuff that was hidden about McCain and Palin by the supposed American liberal media the vast majority of it was in plain sight for anyone to read. Palin's secession ties, corruption, her stunning ignorance... things which Republicans are now attacking her for are not new. McCain's vile temperament and possible psychological problems, his selling out of all of his political beliefs to pander to the religious right and the Bush administration, the administration which ruined his first chance for the Presidency... none of that is new. We haven't only just found this out. The vast majority of people who voted for McCain/Palin either didn't bother to look this stuff up... or they did and decided to ignore it!

This is about ignorance, whether it is innocent or not. That video in the OP has been around since MARCH and yet John McCain 2008 in another thread asks questions about Barack Obama because he doesn't trust him. He trusted Palin for a few months but what was this trust based on? The fact that Fox News said she was a great choice? Isn't it odd that criticism of Palin from the GOP has only just started to emerge after Fox started to slam her?

Yeah sorry John McCain 2008. Be a Republican if you want, by all means have disagreements about Obama over his policies or agreements with McCain over his. But EDUCATE yourself in future. Even if it's just a quick skim over wikipedia... please. When 2012 comes around read up on Obama and not just listen to whatever Fox says, read about who the Republican candidate will be. Don't just listen to them or sources with only one viewpoint. This applies to both candidates and both parties.

I've been wondering the same things. What precisely did McPalin supporters base their support on?

Michele Bachmann wanted members of Congress to have their loyalty tested I think it should be the people who voted for Bush twice and supported McPalin that need to be tested.

It just seems like these people are trying to ruin the country and/or the federal government by electing ignorant megalomaniacs to the highest offices and hoping for the worst...

Secession is constitutional, end of story.

The reason for the cecession is another matter, it opens up a giant can of worms.

Here are the List of U.S. state secession proposals (39 states tried already)
