Default Removing/editing historic events - question

Is there any event of those in descr_events(RTW) hardcoded in the sense that modifying its date, position or even removing it might crash the game or have any nasty effect of this sort?

And another one. Do those coordinates mean anything? For example the Etna eruption occured normally(and in the right place) even though in descr_events I had:
    Code:
    event	volcano eruption_at_etna
    date	9 winter
    position	104, 49
while on my map the volcano is situated around 104, 61.

I think you can safely ditch all the historical events without any problem.

As for the coordinate, maybe it's used as the point within a radius of which the eruption effects are applied? <== speculation

Yes, you can ditch them all without any consequences.

For volcanoes, the position needs to match the coordinates of one of the red dots on data\world\maps\base\map_features.tga
