"WE WILL SMITE THE INVADERS FROM OUR SKIES! Though they sweep over our lands like the sands of winter, never again will we bow before them; never again endure their oppression; never again endure their tyranny. We will strike without warning and without mercy, fighting as one hand, one heart, one soul. We will shatter their dreams and haunt their nightmares, drenching our ancestors' graves with their blood. And as our last breath tears at their lungs; as we rise again from the ruins of our cities...they will know: Helghan belongs to the Helghast." -Scholar Visari

Rise of Nations was fun.
Especially when you had twelve or so missle silos, and you could nuke the livingout every other city on the map.
And naval battles were fun. Good and fluid.
I'll show you GLOBAL THERMONUCLEAR WAR!

Starcraft/Warcraft II, they were not only my first real games that I played but they were my gfirst and favorite RTS's.
Empire Earth.
The first was simply ground breaking, and the expansion only improved it (albeit with a couple bugs)
The second was also very good. Not quite as ground breaking as the previous, but I would say it lived up to expectations.
The third sucks. Horribly. Seriously, it disgraces the name of Empire Earth. I hope they make a fourth that is actually good like the first two
Everything the State says is a lie, everything it has is stolen.
State is the name of coldest of all the cold monsters. Coldly it lies; and this slips from its mouth: "I, the state, am the people"
Ohhh, this is so hard between CoH and AoE.![]()
Liberté est un privilège à moins qu'elle soit appréciée par une ou plusieurs
I'd go with Age of Empires because it was the first one I ever played, though EE and Rise of Nations were great too.
maybe its the fact that I have only been a fan of RTS for three years, but I have only played the demo for starcraft, EE1/2/3, and rise of nations (the most complete demo I have downloaded). I love total war, but for now, its stuck in swords and slow loading cannons/muskets. blowing the hell out of the enemy is something that I found lacking in total war, so I decided to do th demo of C & C genarals, really freaking easy, but more explosions then you can shake a stick at.

Definitely Age of Empires. It was the first strategy game series I ever played. I've had many fond memories of controlling the different civilizations of the time.
I chose other for: Relic.
They've made brilliant rts, Homeworld series, Dow, CoH.
Just awesome
I thought that Rise of Nations was a good series too, I remember there being a cool campaign mode with multiple factions. It was sort of "Risk-like" but with Age of Empires style battles. I must have spent hours on that game.
Yeah, I found RoN pretty awesome as well. My two favourites apart from the Total War series at the moment, are Rise of Nations and Age of Empires.
Age of Empires series!![]()
Supreme Commander, with Relic games really close behind.
P.S.: Is it a bad time to mention to the thread starter that the TW games are TBS/RTT, not RTS?
Play 'March of Death'. Play it, unless you know a sadder song.
Play something to make your soul weep. If you have one still.
My vote goes to Supreme Commander.
I would've voted the Faces of War/Soldiers:Heroes of WW2/Men of War series, but they're not exactly RTS so there, SupCom wins.
Age of Empires. It's a classic.
Homeworld series from Relic.
Every time you , god kills another kitten.
If you're gonna hire Machete to kill the bad guy, you better make damn sure the bad guy isn't YOU!
'I understand, and I take the light into my soul. I will become the spear of Khaine. Lightning flashes, blood falls, death pierces the darkness.' , Dhrykna.
I must say Empire Earth
It was full with bugs but I loved how they made defending alot easier than attacking, this made the games extremely long. I remember a game between me and a friend which took 16 hours.
The two last ages were uninteresting and the developers should had worked on other things instead of adding them, but overall a great game.
To bad the sequels sucked
