Default A random step in the expansion of the empire...

I was building an empire as Pontus as you can see when I had a sudden stroke of inspiration as to which settlement to attck next: normally, I like to attack rebel settlements and this was the only one left (I had an army beseiging Themiskyra). So i thought, what the heck, got a fleet and army at Rhodes and sailed from summer 240 BC to summer 229 BC - 11 years or 22 turns! You can see the escort fleet that protected the troopships...

Hahah nice why is it that the Britons never take Tara? In all my campaigns, they've never taken it, despite it being a very closeby settlement and also rebel owned, so they don't have to start new unnecessary wars for it.

And I see Numidia has built up a very respectable empire...are they the next to fall?

Same, I've never seen the Britons take Tara, though they should... Yeah i've helped the Numidians a lot on this campaign - now it's just me and them; easy!

The RTW executable's AI is very poor when it comes to naval invasions... BI's is so much better in that respect.

Take over Britannia and the mainland Briton holdings. The next step can be a sea invasion from Britannia to Iberia, and sea invasion to Sicliy and to the Brutii, and a land invasion to the Gallic provinces of the Julii. Four-pronged invasion of Rome should work quickly.
Although this may disappoint some people, I am indeed alive, I just went inactive for three years.

I think you should sell all your settlements to Rome and start over in Tara.

I"m trying to figure out the chapter in a real history book that would explain why pontus randomly invades a worthless island far away from its borders. I think it'd be interesting.

in one of my campaigns, I was playing the Julii when I suddenly found out that the Britons had taken over all of Germany, Gaul and were working on Spain (I didnt find out earlier because I was owning the Numidians ). because all my troops were in Numidia (I had an alliance with gaul, so I didnt worry about them) those bloody Britons just cut their way with tens of full-stack armies all the way down to Rome, and made me lose everything I had in Italy!!

That must of taken a real long time. Good luck with your campaign. On the other hand ...

    I also know a good way/tip.

I am currently playing as Macedon (no Mods) and I have an alliance with Dacia and The Greek Cities. As I took all the Greek Cities land (Greek mainland. They still hold settlements in the Turkish mainland) I thought of a good place to attack. Rome. Rome is the most built up city and has a small amount of troops in the settlement, though a unit usually waits outside of it.

    It requires;

    • A fleet of 10 ships
    • A General
    • 2 Armies (full if possible)
    • Range of troops (Infantry, Missle and Cavalry)

As the other house families are still developing you have a fair advantage. The Julii should be dealing with Gaul forces, the Scipii should be dealing with the Carthage faction and the Brutii should be trying at either (depending on the circumstances) Rebels, The Greek Cities, Dacia or Macedon.

Make sure you (like I say in the requirements) take at least 2 full armies. Bare in mind (the 10 ships point) that the Brutii usually have a great naval fleet and the Scipii will cut off the Sicily cut-through.

To do this, the descr_strat.txt file must be modified. Click here for more information.
