How to use pikes?

I've tried some strategies, but in order to make pikes effective is really hard. Or I just don't know how to use them.

I just want to know what are the best ways to use pikes in the field, that includes tercios, aventuros, swiss, etc.

If there is another thread about this topic, just give me the link.

this fixes pike men. WIP. It is far batter than Vanilla skeletons.

Stainless Steel does an incredible job with pikes; I had a unit of pike militia defeat one three times their quality with minimal losses thanks to the animation fixes. Instead of pulling out bananas, they keep stabbing at the enemy with their long weapons.

When facing cavelry and you have 4 or more units line them up in A
box formation and put A ranged unit in the middle and fire apon
the enemy....when flanking enemies turn spearwall off and let
them pull out longswords and they make excellent heavy infantry.

when using pikes NEVER let them get flanked while in spearwall
especially from behind or they will be gone so use the box formation.

Stainless Steel really improves pikemen. They are way better than in vanilla. But if you like vanilla more (like i sometimes), then download the fix which Condottiere SOG posted.
