Charge. See Richard the Lionheart for more details!

They get it by fighting in melee a lot. Don't keep your general sitting behind your lines if you want bravery traits, you have to send him to mix it up a little.

And not just chasing down hundreds of routers, also send him in to reinforce your line repeatedly, and charge a few spearmen...but carefully.

so you get more morale for your units in trade for risking a good general.

the morale is gone when the general is dead, that's why he said to charge them carefully.

Dont charge spearmen, that is just suicidal. You can however hit any unit from behind. Then when they are wavering keep him in melee until they break.

MELGIBSON!!! AHAHAHAHAHA reminds me of the south park episode

OHH my nipples hurt when i twist them. oh gee, theres some whips over there. *ties himself up* i sure hope you dont use them to whip my ass

guys i acutally think the bravery trait isnt worth it. ive lost 3 faction leaders and 5 generals in 5 years. i might be because im staying in melee too long against spears. i think ill just charge spears and melee velites.

    aznflea, your capslock is on

charge your general into anything that doesnt carry a pointy stick, and you will probably win and get the trait

yup, but for romans it's not bravery, the traits start from local hero, roman hero(perhaps) until legendary hero.

    ROFL

paokmam that really made me rofl

the only problem is that i dont feel like i deserve the trait if i dont charge into spears.

btw do you HAVE to charge or is melee fighting good enough?

you watched too many war films....( by means I'm not insulting you )
and melee fighting is already good enough to buff general bravery.

To find out how to get any trait go to C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War then open export_descr_character_traits.txt

Search for trigger in the text file and you'll find about half way down info on what governs chances of gettign each trait.

    Trigger battle1
    WhenToTest PostBattle

    Condition GeneralHPLostRatioinBattle > 0.3

    Affects BattleScarred 1 Chance 30
    Affects Brave 1 Chance 15

    Trigger battle2
    WhenToTest PostBattle

    Condition GeneralNumKillsInBattle > 6

    Affects Brave 1 Chance 20

So the way to get it to to let you general lose 30% of his HP and survive so leave him in melee for a while. Its a good idea too because getting the scared line of traits is a great way to keep your general alive if you get it early.

You can also ensure the general kills six enemies personally, not his unit but the GENERAL himself in melee. Still there's only a small chance for each so you won't always get the trait.
