Thu 06/11/08 15:57 - Michel Delacroix, chairman of the far right Francophone party Front National and also a Senator, has announced that he is to quit. Mr Delacroix is facing several complaints after singing racist chants insulting Jews.

The news comes after footage was spread on the internet. The video was made using a mobile phone and shows Mr Delacroix and a friend of the Flemish far right party Vlaams Belang when they decide to sing a song.

It turns out to be a racist song, insulting Jews. In French, they sing "Ma petite Juive est à Dachau. Elle est dans la chaux vive. Elle a quitté son ghetto, pour être brûlée vive". (My little Jewish girl is in Dachau. She is in unslaked lime. She has left her ghetto, to be burnt alive.")
Delacroix giving up "all executive functions"

This morning, the Centre for Equal Opportunities and the Fight against Racism announced it would file a complaint against Mr Delacroix. The Forum of Jewish organisations soon followed, saying they were "deeply shocked".

This afternoon, Mr Delacroix announced that he was giving up "all his executive functions".

The other man singing with Mr Delacroix turned out to be Luc Van Keerbergen who is a member of the Flemish far right Vlaams Belang. Mr Van Keerbergen, who had a function in the social service department (OCMW) in Machelen (Flemish Brabant) has been evicted from the party.

Front National is a french speaking far right party, on the cideo shown on tv there's also a Flemish member of far right flemish party "Vlaams Belang" singing.

He is to leave his party but he's still a senator, I hope they throw him out of the Senate and take away his imunity!

I do think tough that the way that this has been made public was a bit low, his wife is divorcing him, and added the the clip with her divorce papers and from there on it got leaked

Well both got kicked out of their parties so I'm guessing they'll try to write it off as an exception

Yeah.
If you don't like what he's saying or doing, then vote for a different guy. But he should have the right to express whatever opinion he wants.
Regardless of how disgustingly stupid his opinion is.

The party expelling him...well, that's fine, 'cause they're a private organization with their own rules and self-image to maintain.

Name one western democracy where a politician can sing a song like this and get away with it.
It's about proper conduct.
Yes no one bats an eyelid for nazis when they sing songs like these mainly because they do it behind closed doors and people expect such behavior from them.

The far right parties however take a offical stance against nazism since it costs them votes, so it's better to be closet nazis.

No, most of them try very hard to distant themselfs from nazis, same way leftists try to distant themselfs from communists.
They know it will cost them votes if they are put in that group so they tend to be anti-immigrants instead.
