They use more polys than MTW2 units and we use more of the texture (though that is still the same size). Looks like you did upgrade in vain, silly you. Of course it could be that the camera is a bit far away so the game is using lower detailed models. Not sure.

Wow! Yeah, that is impressive. No, we've spent more of our texture detail on variations on helmets, shields, armour, etc. You'll notice in those screenshots that the units are very similar (particularly those knights). There appears to be two different shield skins (not models, I may add) and nothing else. On our end we have six different shield skins, six different linothorax skins, and six different helmet types. Where they have sacrificed variation we have sacrificed detail. Same problem, different solution.

    I understand....
But these knights are members of an order so they have to be kinda uniform...Anyway we gonna have larger battles...

quite funny that those units are ones you find impressive.

foot already commented on the first one. but i'll just say those shields look pretty low-res.

as far as the second, that is primarily a kit-bashed vanilla model with three body variations (one of the body texture lifted from lithuania mod). And one cloak type. and a whole lot of vanilla texture used there. i guess that is impressive to you.

me? i'll take eb's artists over most any m2tw modeller/texturer out there, thank you.

I guess I miss something but the question remains:
Is this picture taken on low settings? I believe you know that M2TW as a PC game has settings?

how the heck would i know, i didn't take it

i sure do know it has settings. play on the highest myself with my rig.

and i believe you know that second archer unit you like is basically a vanilla model with a vanilla cloak added? and with a bunch of vanilla texture parts cut and pasted all over it? and one of the body textures lifted straight from lithuania mod? and the first unit has some pretty crappy shields?

instead of bashing the models, why don't you wait until eb2 comes out and then judge for yourself? instead of basing your opinion on a pic, of which you don't know the settings it was taken on, or whether it lost resolution when converted from .tga or whatever?

    Lego knights Total War?

But seriously, it's called mipmapping. Lower detailed textures far away, better detailed textures closer up. And then, smooth transitions inbetween.

Someone even made a video about the poor mipmapping in M2TW:

Grass isnt related to the OP's point, it is set seperately from stuff like resolution and textures.

Your fervor on behalf of the EBII team is nice, but he's just asking a question. No need to get all worked up; it's not a criticism, it's a question.

Doing what you just did does not improve anything.

    Game of the Fates
Mod of the week on hold -- I've played nearly every RTW mod out there.
BOYCOTT THE USE OF SMILEYS! (Okay, just once)
Antiochos VII...last true scion of the Seleucid dynasty...rest in peace, son of Hellas.
I've returned--please forgive my long absence.

My guess is that these units are actually quite far from the vantage point (judging from the angle of the shot and the number of soldiers in a row), and have just been cropped to a panoramic view.

It may still be taken from a hi-res pix.

    Now I'm worried.
I've already discovered that my P.C can't handle Empire Total War even on Minimum settings.

Now there's a chance that I can't even play this or if I can will have serious Lag.

    Default one word: WIP

These are very early screenshots. I am more than sure that the EB2 team will steadily upgrade them, as progress continues
You just wasted 4 seconds of your life reading this sentence. You'll read it again because it was so funny and waste another 4. And since you read that sentence, some more disappeared, count this sentence and it's 'nother couple. Good job time waster!

Come on, have everyone forgotten the first ever released screenshot of EB2? The one with legionaries. Look at those textures. I'm not worried at all
