i watched the movies' trailer before and i remember seeing a couple of scenes of a car chase of an Aston Martin and another unknown car.

so i went to see the movie yesterday. i was shockingly surprised when the movie ended without that scene. i was shocked too because i was expecting more from the movie but any way that's no the case.

so where is the stunning car chase scenes that i saw in the trailer? did the director of the movie just chose to not include them?

if it was in the very beginning of the movie, then i couldn't have seen it coz i went at the first song where they had the cast. that makes sense then.

well the movie was not that good any way. i was disappointed.

there are a several different release date for each country.

    any way..

The Bond movies are cool, Daniel Craig is cool..may be the 2nd best bond, surely after Sean Connery, but this movie didn't have the "007 movie" feel to it.

one thing it was missing the different cool new inventions he carries. how the hell did they leave that out for God sake.

the final battle was bad. Daniel Craig kicked that guy's ass real easy. there should've have been more obstacles in that final battle in the hotel.

i wasn't pleased with how the movie turned out to be. i dunno, may be i was expecting too much from the movie, or may be the car chase could've changed my mind..i like the Aston Martins

It isn't as good as Casino Royale. But that's a very high standard.

There was a girl who fell into bed with him the moment she met him - car chases with an Aston Martin - absurdly elaborate fight-scenes with villains (like the crazy one on the building frame with the traitor, when they were shooting at each other dangling from ropes) - a supervillain with an evil plot to destabilise an entire continent.

It was a 007 movie, alright.

That was always the silliest part of the Bond movies, though. And they've abandoned silliness in favour of realism.

You mean from the entire BUILDING trying to kill him? Are you serious? He was the brink of committing suicide! He had the gun ready in his hand to do it.

Well actually in the books Bond hates gadgets. He just likes his gun and a compass or some common thing like that.

Yes, the car-chase sequence was at the very beginning before the traditional introductory Bond-song. It was a pretty solid chase with a lot of dynamic camera movement. It was an Aston Martin versus an Alpha Romeo, if it really interests you, and the chase followed on directly from the end of Casino Royale - we saw Bond being chased by men loyal to Mr. White, who Bond had shot and taken prisoner at the end of that film. He evades capture and then ends the opening scenes by opening the trunk of his car and saying to the tied-and-gagged Mr. White inside, "Time to get out."

I disagree about the quality of the movie - I thought it was very satisfying. Certainly it wasn't up to the high standard of Casino Royale, but it was a lot better than all of the Pierce Bosnan Bond movies, with the possible exception of Goldeneye. Most of the criticisms I've heard of Quantum of Solace are so flat-out wrong that it seems to me the critics feed off each other and agree before half of them have even seen the films.

Daniel Craig is shaping up to settle the question of best Bond ever.

I've yet to see the movie, but I can tell you in regards to movie trailers in general, they cut them well before the final cut is often completed. So the editor may end up using clips or shots that do not make it into the final edit of the movie.

Sometimes entire scenes are cut out shortly before the print goes out to be massed produced. The nice thing about today is that stuff usually makes it back into the movie on the DVD.

By the way, where's the movie released now? In the US general release is the 14th

a lot of times, trailers will use scenes that were cut out.

Well that's a pointless thread. Guy walks into a movie too late and wonders why he didn't see all the scenes.
By critical account though, this one doesn't seem to be as good as Casino Royal.

Well, every official James Bond movie after Dr. No started with a scene before the opening credits. So you have to excuse if I don't feel it warranted that someone opens a thread about missing scenes when he didn't even watch the movie from the start.

    Hey man.

I've walked into the complete wrong theater once.

Actually, I went to see a movie but ended up trying to sleep on a couch in a Pottery Barn with my friend. Questions are unnecessary.

And they've abandoned silliness in favour of realism.
    WTF?

Bugger realism. The old Bond's didn't need realism to be great. Or as much violence.

I haven't seen this yet, but I'm not expecting it to be quite on the level of GoldenEye, Goldfinger, Thunderball, and other classics. I think I will eventually see it though.

I liked it quite a bit. I was so pissed when they picked Craig to be Bond but he blew me away in Casino Royale and a great trend continues in Quantum of Solace. If you don't like him then oh well, he has three more movies on his contract so .... yeah. The movie was great, but much different than Casino Royale.

Different in what way? I'm debating on whether to see it and comments like this are very relevant here.

Yes, it's more action and much less dialogue. It's basically meant to be a revenge movie. So it doesn't seem to be an in depth emotional ride for Bond as was Casino Royale. It's much more action driven, but it's very satisfying.

As far as the story goes it couldve been a lot better, but then this story wasn't written by Fleming as was Casino Royale, and the book adaptations of the movies usually tend to be a bit better. Not always though, since On Her Majesty's Secret Service comes to mind.

Also the different director had some crazy camera angles at times. When the action was going on he used too many close ups I felt, and you didn't get as good a feel for what was going on. I think back to when Bond was on those cranes fighting Malaka in the Casino Royale, and that wide shot of the two cranes was incredible. In Quantum the camera angles during most of the action seem to be up close. Still a great movie, and Craig continues with an excellent portrayal of Bond.

I liked Brosnan's movies but they were getting ridiculous with gadgets(invisble car anyone?), and you'll find this movie is mainly void of them as well.

To put it simple...More action less dialog.
