    Default Look T'wards the future

How do you think things will be in 2012 (new elections and otherwise)

For one thing, the US will probably (assuming Obama doesn't backslide on his promise to leave by 2011) be out of Iraq, so that is another issue gone (one that likely screwed over the Republicans in the recent elections)

For another, Palin will be running for Republican nominee. Being recognized, she has a chance of winning despite being among the most ignorant candidates out there (At least Bush understood the basics of geography), and being a large jinx to the McCain campaign.

But on the other hand, Obama is going to be a big let-down. He is largely supported by idealists, and frankly he isn't going to be able to keep his various promises. The Republicans are not as crushed as some think they are.

So, who do you think might run for the Republicans?

Honestly, I am not totally sure. For one thing, most of the Neo-Cons (Case in point, Mitt Romney) will not run. Neo-Conservatives had their chance (with virtual control of the US government) from 2001-2007, and a fair deal of influence in the 1990s. They screwed up, they proved their ideology doesn't work, so back to the boring ol' normal conservatives (With some Libertarians mixed in, with Libertarianism gaining power these days). Ron Paul probably won't run. He would be about 86, and likely have trouble being a leader. Although he is (currently) healthier then McCain, by then he would probably catch something nasty, get some sort of problem, and die (or be left paralyzed). But he made that "Campaign for Liberty" so there will likely be a Ron Paul-style candidate.

Discuss (The state of the world in 2012 is applicable too.)
Everything the State says is a lie, everything it has is stolen.

State is the name of coldest of all the cold monsters. Coldly it lies; and this slips from its mouth: "I, the state, am the people"

Honestly I think 2000 and now 2008 shows us we cant possibly see into the future. Who would have ever thought Bush would win in 2000 and 8 years later who ever would have thought a man who just a few years ago was literally no one is now President-Elect. 2012? Impossible to predict because way things were the past 8+ years the assumption was we would be looking at President Clinton, President Guiliani or President Gore.

There isn't enough that we know about the future to even make a prediction. We don't know if Obama will be a crap president, or if he will turn out to be great. We don't know if Russia will continue its antagonistic stances, and we don't know who else will be running.

Simply put, we're all out of drinking water. No water, no vault.....

    Err, never mind that.

"Same old, same old"....(I'm still waiting for Y2K). Terribly sorry but I don't see Obama as some kind of catalyst for a major shift in the world.

I do believe things work in cycles over the long term, especially values. Look at Victorian values v the sixties. But a new President of the US is not the catalyst. He may be a part of it. But who knows? Wait until every single interest group, whether foreign or homegrown, who isn't favoured, starts ing and putting propaganda out about every single decision he makes. For all we know he may be as universally despised as GWB in a few years.

Let's not forget that ~46% of Americans voted against Obama.

Now, now 57 million votes for the other guy is irrelevant cause those people are just racist rednecks..this is the dawning of a new age, a new hope! Funny that 62million votes for Bush=cynical politics, fear etc but 64million for Obama=america has wised up.

my opinion for 2012; huckabee runs for president with ted haggard (new and improved, reformed and reeducated to remove the homosexuality 'demons' from him) as his running mate. palin is no where to be seen not even in office in alaska.
clinton runs against obama/biden for democrats backing. no idea who she would pick as running mate but id have to hope its not someone picked at random, as palin was.

edit: maybe she will pick al gore irony

Four years away....oh my. Still not over this one yet, but here goes...

    at the top....Romney or Huckabee

VP...a qualified, vetted female/minority (and both would be optimal)
