And I drank it strait down.
This is quite sad. Jurassic Park was one of the first "big" books I read when I was young. I know it's of no relevance, but I didn't even realise he was that old.
His earlier work was a lot more interesting than the stuff he'd been producing in these latter years. Crichton was, once, the master of the cerebral thriller - the fun novel for the thinking man. His books also had a way of being absolutely ideal in structure for adaptation to film, and this was crucial for him in promoting his name. So many of his books were made into films, in fact, that he must surely have made far more out selling film rights than he did out of his bestsellers themselves.
The Andromeda Strain, The Great Train Robbery, Sphere, Jurassic Park, Timeline, Disclosure, Rising Sun, The Terminal Man...enjoyable books. The quality of the films, of course, was pretty variable, as it always is.
The man had one hell of a CV. For a long while it was as though he couldn't put a foot wrong.

So sad that he's dead. He's made amazing books, which have been made into amazing movies (sometimes).
Is teh suck.
Damn.
I loved his work.
He had been getting shabby with the past three books, but hell, not everyone can age like wine.
Gonna miss his books, and if there's any ghostwriting to be done, they'd damn well better find a good writer to fill these shoes.

I am really sad, I loved his works.
Agreed his earlier books were better, but the last three were still good.

I abosuletly loved Jurassic Park, the novel, it was fantastic. As a matter of fact, I certainly still consider it my favourite book.
Rest in peace, Mr Crichton.
