    Icon10 I couldn't resist the urge!

Hi everyone, I'm kinda new to the TWC forums however, this superb mod surely certainly isn't. You see, I've been *prowling* the Roma Surrectum forums for quite some time. Alas, my shy personality and introvertic self has unfortunately prevented me from embracing Roma surrectimism publicly ..ermm..I mean on the forums. I just wanted to say that this mod is a splendid triumph of creativity over Vanilla and awesomeness over what would otherwise be a very, very dull game.
Come to think of it, RS was the only reason why I signed up. Meh well.

There are a lot of RTW based mods out there in this forum covering a variety of periods.

I am looking forward to the release of RS2 to 'flesh' out some of the factions that don't feel 'complete' in the RS1.5 series.

I know . But I tried EU once (after about..a century of downloading those massive files) and I didn't really "feel" comfortable with it.
Next stop on my list: RTR.
I felt pretty much at ease with it till I discovered ,to my shock, that it didn't cover the imperial and late republican era! Dayum, I thought,. Where EB mainly concentrated on the Barbarian factions and a little bit of the Eastern succesor kingdoms, it kinda left out poor rome.

So I was about to give up hope when ..tadda! I spotted Roma Surrectum and I've never gone back since.

I'd suggest trying RTR VII TIC first (you need RTW BI). It will give an idea of what RTR VII may be like (an improvement over RTR 6 Gold and the port to RTR PE). The first scripted battle in the Carthage campaign is worth the download alone!

It has limited shelf life as there are only two playable factions.

Also, if you have RTW BI then play RTR PE - there are numerous versions of the mod and 'fixes' for the revolt CTD.

Anyway, enjoy playing RS1.5b! Try a mixture of the factions.

Well,I DID try SPQR once. TBH, it seems to me like the closest thing I could get to RS.
I just didn't.."FEEL" it, if you get what I mean .
RS just strikes a kind of..perfect balance between everything I desire.
Anyway, I'm sticking to RS no matter what now .
I just don't wanna ask the *question* on when RS2 will be released.

The only problem with RS is that it sounds if you are saying: "Romas Rectum" when you are telling ppl what you are playing or when you are trying to recommend the mod to someone...

How come the word for Arise contains the word for poop chute?

because the rectum is a straight tube, the Latin word "rectus, recta, rectum" means straight.

Take a guess at what the Latin for scabbard is, or the command centurions yelled for legionnaires to cast their pila

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    scabbard = vagina
to throw the pila = pila ejaculare

Funny thing is that the word for scabbard and vagina in Swedish is the same ('slida')

I did look at Wikipedia and found out it meant straight...funny, a rectum isn't really something I'd call "straight"...

I must say I can identify where Gerald is coming from. Having tried a number of Rome TW mods, I'm finally at home with RS. Most of the alternatives have some very nice touches, but RS does have a hard to define 'feel' that puts me into a historical gaming environment that I enjoy very much without feeling I've sacrificed too much 'awffentickness'. Still waiting for my first CTD too - it's very stable. I would also say that the atmosphere on this forum is friendly, informative and good-humoured. I don't post an awful lot here but pop back occaisionally to say "Thanks chaps - keep up the good work".

Thats interesting because i know that in Portuguese the word Pila means penis. Lucky when the centurions yelled for legionares to cast their pila that they werent Portuguese

Lol. Thanks for all the caring replies.
@DC; I agree with you on the..misplaced phonetic
@Chaplain:I guess I learn something new each day lol. Though I rather prefer Linea as in line, straight than ..rectum as rectum tends to be misunderstood alot. Lol

Welcome to the forums, Gerald the Herald (great name BTW)

This was the second forum I ever joined (the first collapsed after I only made a few posts). I recall being in my thirties and having an elevated heartbeat making my first few posts - LOL. I kid you not.

definitly one of the best mod for Rome, i felt in love from the first preview of the 2.0 version, the previews are just awesome, complete in every sense, will it be the units designs to the very impressive background history, glad to see that many people appreciate it too.
