Default Ballot Measures: the story no one notices.

While the US is electing the first non-white President in the history of the country, I wonder if the ballot measures are far more representative of "real America":

    • Arizona, Florida and California noted to ban gay marriage while Arkansas moved to ban gay people from adopting children.
    • California and S.Dakota voted no to abortion term limits (that mean that the parent does not need to be notified).
    • Nebraska and Colorado voted to end affirmative action and I think they picked the right day for this.
    • Michigan voted for stem cell research and allowing medical use of cannabis.
    • Washington for medically assisted suicide.
    • And Maryland for video lottery, people! Is anyone here from Maryland? I would like to hear from him...

In all the ballot measures give the image of a widely diverse country and not a nation under a liberal onslaught as some pundits would have us believe.

    Sincerely, well done America.

Well it doesnt really take that much to get these measures on a ballot. Right now the california ones are leading but still alot of votes to go on it. I think with the gay marriage thing we just have to chalk it up that its atleast for the near future its just not going to be accepted. No matter where you go in this country, even with people who are liberal on issue after issue they just seem to pause when you mention gays and marriage. Unfortunately its probably just going to be better to just call it civil unions and leave its legal status at that. Hopefully at some point this country will get over it.

Oh gee, thanx for your magnanimous and heavenly endorsement.

Of course everyone here has not the same exact opinion as anyone else here, same as everywhere else in the world. So, they vote for a candidate that agrees with them on most issues usually, just as in the rest of the world. Oh, wait a minute, in many other nations you cannot vote or only vote for one candidate and one political party, so I guess we are and have been a democratic republic for some time now, we even inspired the French Revolution and South American Revolutions etc.

    Well done old bean, Chris

I think you missed my point. As I said many pundits would have us believe that America is crumbling under the weight of a liberal-commie-socialist onslaught. The ballots show a different picture.

And you don't need to thank me. You represent nothing but your self exactly as do I.

    Have a nice one,
    Garb.

    Is it a nice zoo?

I also have to mention that Massachusetts voted to repeal the State Income Tax. I wish we could do the same in Greece.

Havnt been since I was in elementry school. But I dont think theres such a thing as a 'bad' zoo to an 8 year old. Im actualy not certain if it passed, but I dont see how anyone in their right mind could vote against a zoo. Thats like voting against candy, or puppies.
