I don't think that was it entirely. Yes he probably wanted to get Hilary voters but I think he was thinking larger than that.
I think he thought he could sway independents and moderate Republicans.
She then would get the Republican base, Hilary voters and women not included in the other categories.
Seeing Russia from her house. Dinosaurs walking around a few thousand years ago. VP is leader of the Senate...
I don't think McCain was ready for all of that.

Oh gee gee!
Palin is finished on the higher plane of politics on which she really did not belong. She strikes me as the self-delusional type who might not actually understand this, but I cannot believe that Republicans could actually nominate her in 2012 or 2016 - that is too great an absurdity to credit. She can do no damage to America on the grand scale now - your country US is safe.

She wont be nominated in 2012, unless something happens to make the republicans think that a religous candidate is key. What disturbs me is that she will most definatly leverage this into a bigger political career. She'll probley end up being a governer, or a congresswoman, or at least get into the alaska state senate. She's by no means gone, you'll probley even still see her on your news networks as a pundit and/or panelist. You have not heard the last of sarah palin.
She is already a Governor!!! She is gonna be new Oprah though...sadly.
McCain is OK, and so is Obama though. Biden ...
Chris
Well McCain was talking about her future during his speech wasn't he?

Palin was probably the biggest reason I voted for Obama. That was the turning point in the campaign.
That woman was, and I will say it again, an INCREDIBLE moron. I mean, she didn't even know Bush's political doctrine, and she thought the VP was in control of the Senate.
I hate to think about what pitiful shape the country would be in under her hands.
In Bill Clinton's words: Don't underestimate her.
She consistently outdrew McCain (and sometimes even Obama) on the campaign trail at rallies people.
She has a populist appeal that simply isn't going to go away anytime soon. If anything the only politician who's presidential hopes are now forever dashed is Hillary Clinton.
That's a Democratic talking point through and through, and its not accurate in the slightest.Originally Posted by Chuffy

Need I remind you that McCain attracted nearly 47% of the electorate yesterday. Four years from now (depending on how Obama performs) you can't really deny that Palin will be seen as a fresh and familar face for many in the GOP.
