Default Americans: How did your other races go?

By now everyone in the world knows about the President, but for the average citizen, the Gubernatorial and House/Senate races have an even greater impact on your everyday life.

I'm in the North Western part of North Carolina.

I'm happy about the Senate race. Elizabeth Dole (R) got ousted by Kay Hagan (D). Dole is pretty much worthless as a senator.

Not quite so happy about Governor. Bev Perdue (D) beats Pat McCrory (R). I voted mostly Democrats, but this guy I thought is much better than Bev.

Sucks about the house, but completely expected. Virginia Foxx (R) beats Roy Carter (D). I can't stand Foxx, she's such a , and does nothing for her constituency.

Glad to see Repub. Saxby Chambliss was reelected and my GOP congressman John Linder won also.

Only positive (for us republicans) has been that holding onto filibuster ability in senate, the senate could have been worse then it was so minor plus. The one big negative though is my disappointment that that walking bag of human excrement Murtha won reelection up in Penn...here is to hoping fat man develops a medical problem.

I was surprised that McCain did so well, actually. 48% of the Popular vote :hmmm: Btw, it's too soon to tell, but my bet is is that most of the Propositions failed, except the energy ones and the Law ones...

Yeah it would be one thing Democrats (especially in the House that means YOU Pelosi) would be smart to keep in mind. While electorial victory was impressive and big the popular vote hardly makes for a landslide or mandate. Obama with 2nd term in mind wont forget this and will know he has to lead from center but I hope he isnt dragged down by the morons in the house.

actually after tonight, I realize something. if the normal people don't get out to vote, the evangelicals will rule this country in every election.

    scary.
    fear is helluva drug

“The only rule that ever made sense to me I learned from a history, not an economics, professor at Wharton. "Fear," he used to say, "fear is the most valuable commodity in the universe." That blew me away. "Turn on the TV," he'd say. "What are you seeing? People selling their products? No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.” WWZ

Have you had your daily dose of fear yet? craziii

So now evangelicals arent normal? How insulting and idiotic, if normal people didnt show up to vote them black people would rule this country in every election. How does that sound? If those normal people didnt show up those homosexuals would rule this country. If those normal people didnt show up those damn red headed people would rule this country.

Nearly 40% of white Protestant voted for Obama according to exit polls, 35% of them who attend church weekly. 25% who identify as purely evangelicals voted for Obama. Compare these numbers to those who identify as liberal who voted for Mccain and you should probably be thanking the evangelicals.

I was actually scared the Democrats would have 60 seats in the senate.

I can breath easy now though. We are at least safe from major legislation from messing up our country unopposed.
Yeah same too much power in one party is bad regardless, even the house isnt shaping up to be as bad as it was looking like it would be. Its not good but its not as nightmarish. Thankfully looks like Coleman is going to pull it out against Franken too for senate seat.

It's a little too early to tall for sure on all races, but looks like Colorado will have a Dem senator and my district will have a Dem Rep. (I'm glad that Musgrave lost). The "Person-hood" amendment got destroyed, but it looks like we'll still need to be 25 to serve in state government. State house races are still too close to call, but they seem to be going a little to Democratic for my taste. All and all, not too bad, although I can't find info on some of the more local elections (county commissioner and such).

For the last two weeks we've been getting daily spam in our mailbox, with equally lame arguments on both sides.

Chris Lee is a Chinese communist who employs cheap labor in China and doesn't care about America.

Alice Kryzan wants to raise your taxes, and she's bad.

Looks like Chris Lee is going to win.

I agree with all of your above statements. I'm a Charlottean myself, and a big supporter of McCrory for Governor. Sad to see him loose. I am most happy about the defeat of Dole. That woman has accomplished nothing, and is a dishonest hypocrite to boot. Glad to see her gone.

Where exactly in North Carolina do you live?
