Default Well, Allow me to be the first...

Sadly, it looks like Sen. Obama will be the next president of the United States (I hope Im wrong...but Im know Im not)...

I just would like to issue a congradulations to not only the Obama camp...but also to those among us who frequent the political forums who supported him. There has been some bad blood spewed from both sides... hopefully now we can return to normal (and get back at whats important...making fun of Canadians)

I will be the first to admit that I am not an Obama supporter....(but as its looks likely...) he is now our president (ALL OF OURS) and he does deserve at the very least the respect the office confers...

So.... I would like to extend a hand of congradulations and concession to my Democrat friends... you got your wish...the nation is yours....try not to screw it up too badly....

This is what elections are about, not only winning but accepting defeat and backing the winner. The old John Wayne quote says it best: "I didn't vote for him, but he's my president and I hope he does a good job."

I didn't really see too much anger during these election discussions, and they surely provided an entertaining way to mull around some of the ideas. I recall there was a lot of passion with Bush's re-election in here. I voted for and supported him then.

I have to say though that the only way I would feel better right now was if Empire came out today and I had tomorrow off.

    You'd think I'd be sad....but I'm not.

I'm actually happy that such a strategic situation could present itself.

I'm confident that Obama is in for something of a fall from grace...but we'll see.

Either I'm wrong and he's good for America. In which case, good. Or I'm right, and he's out in 4...in which case good.

Play nice BWB, at least give him his 100 days. After that you can tear him a new one.

I'm willing to give whoever wins a shot.

At this is the thing, you may dislike the man, but he will be our President, and we need to be recognize that. Let all this damned anathema (from both sides) go away and lets actually work towards making this country better.

Ok Obama pretty much has the election, all I can do now is hope for the best . Political ideology aside he is not such an intolerable guy and I think that someone with the energy and serenity Obama has displayed can only do good for the image of the U.S.

However I really hope the congress doesn't get completely handed over to the democrats.

Very nice. Your the only McCain supporter I've seen so far who isn't being a sore loser. The nice thing about Obama is his willingness (or supposed willingness) to work with Republicans. So if you don't like something Obama is doing, and you can find enough people who agree with you, I bet you can voice your opinion and get Obama to hear you out. Obama is a fairly young politician, he's not stuck in his own idealogy like other politicians who have been in Washington for quite some time.

    Politics as usual.

After the celebration, after everybody (groupies, campaign managers, hopefuls) drink all the champagne and enjoy all the booze, comes the hangup and the crashing of a inevitable realization: Mortgages still have to be paid, parents still need to see their kids through college, people are still dying.

Presidents come and go. Life goes on.

To supporters of McCain--I say this now not as a user with his name, but as a voter and US citizen-- if you are dissatisfied with the Obama victory, work to get your opinions to be represented. Write your Congresspeople. Participate in protests, rallies, and the democratic process.

America...show the rest of the world we are truly worthy of democracy and freedom. Show them that we can be divided and stand tall. Show that in disagreement we can work together. Together, McCain and Obama, they would create a better world.

Thank my brother for his love.

no sense in declaring war on Obama just yet.

We can still pull out a smashing victory in 2012.

"We'll See" has got to be the Republican motto until 2012. Is it bad for the party that Obama won? "We'll See"
The future can be very kind to the R's...We'll see.

Let's see how well he does. I'm not confident, but his best hope would not be screwing up too much or else Virginia and the rest of the Solid Red ain't voting Democrat for another 30 years.
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."

Remember, a lot of the campaign is talk, once in office politicians tend to shift towards center.

The nice thing about the American system, if the next 2 years are really that bad, there's another congressional election in 2010, our founding fathers were brilliant with the checks and balances.
