There won't be a civil war based on election results unless the winning candidate was a blatant authoritarian or socialist. I am more afraid of there being a civil war when Obama is sworn because he is even more socialist than we have feared. Forget about "spreading the wealth around" and hello to "this Constitution thing needs to be replaced with a more 'progressive' document." Others might agree with that, but I sure as hell don't.

Civil insurrection in the U.S is unthinkable. Oh there might be a riot here and there (a la Rodney King) , but no. Everybody is too civil to take up arms IMHO (from an Aussie 5 years in the States).

EDIT: And the States are far too dilute now culturally, ethno-centrically and socio-politically. In other words, there is no real sense of "State" anymore, just Country.

The South wouldn't secede until Obama actually started enacting crazy policies. They wouldn't want to be branded as "racists" because they secede when a black man wins, because that is what the Obama propaganda would say.

The South isn't going to secede. That one didn't work out too great for them last time.
