Illinois Senator and Presidential Candidate Barack Hussein Obama II has won the 2008 race for the Whitehouse over rival John McCain. The Democratic Presidential nominee achieved a convincing victory as record numbers turned out to endorse his candidature.
“I’m humbled by the support that has be shown me by the American people. The people have spoken and the message is clear, people want change! People want change, they are not happy that my abilities have been wasted these past four years in the US Senate. I needed change.. and a holiday to Europe just didn’t suffice,” Obama stated.
Senator Obama’s celebrations were however put on hold after his running mate, Senator Jo Biden, was rushed to hospital under mysterious circumstances. Former presidential nominee Hilary Clinton has since joined Obama in a bedside vigil. John McCain, who is reported to have also suffered health complications following the election result was cleared to return home to convalesce with his family.
The Democratic National Committee has since been inundated with submissions for Vice President, including those from Michelle Obama, Ophrah Winfrey, Michael Moore, Paris Hilton and Matt Damon.
In other news, 130 people have been killed and 312 wounded as celebrations in Iran went terribly wrong.
