    Default Draw Distance

apologies if there is something out there like this; i searched the forums and could not find anything.

i recently went mental and spent quite a bit of cash on an extremely high-end pc. i wont go into detail but it is a monster.

so, with my new-found processing power i have been trying to improve the look of the game and really test the machine. i have the HUGE battles mod and it works perfectly, really adds to the game with armies of over 5000 men hacking each other to bits.

getting to the point, i was wondering if there is a mod which improves the draw distance on the battle map.

if there is no such mod could anybody give me any pointers on how to go about doing this, if it is possible at all.

    thanks in advance.

    what exactly do you mean?
"we're way way pre-alpha and what that means is there is loads of features not just in terms of the graphics but also in terms of the combat and animations that actually aren't in the game yet.So the final game is actually gonna look way way better than this!” - James Russell, CA
Just like the elephant animation, this Carthage scenario is actually in the game, it just has a small percantage factor for showing up, that's all...

yeah sorry should have been a bit clearer. theres two things:

    1. you know when you look at your units from a distance, they are more like 2d sprites, similar to the ones from the original medieval. then when you zoom in there is a noticable change to the 3d unit models. i wanted to try and make them 3d at any range.

    2. scenery draw distance, so all objects on the battlefield are shown, and you dont get trees popping up from nowhere as you scroll across the map.

hope that makes it clearer, sorry but i dont know any technical terms for this type of thing.

    cheers,

I have a extreme high end machine myself.
Everything on Max setting x16 AF & x4 AA

To rid yourself of 2D Sprite from unit.
    Go to your medieval2.cfg
and under "Unit_Detail" change it from Higher to "Highest"
So the draw distance from 2d won't happen.

You can try the same for grass or vegi detail but let me know how it turns out.
Be sure to have a back up cfg.

Think it's in your MTW2 folder called "medieval2.preference", open it with notepad.
