I remember the second Clinton campaign - barely. I remember vividly both Bush elections. And this one takes the cake for the most vile, nasty, ruthless one in my life. I've never heard more stupidity and lies from the misinformed masses on both sides, but to be honest, especially from the republicans. Look how many lies have been made up about Obama, people being manipulated by their preachers/etc into thinking that somehow a Kenyan Arab Muslim terrorist managed to implant himself as a member of the senate and then run for the president (the ignorance required to believe such things really lowers my faith in the American people). Then on the other hand you have people who mindless think Obama is this great and awesome man destined to change the world. Idealism is nice, but annoying. Neither candidate I fully agree with, but McCain lost my vote once he recanted his statement that the likes of Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson were "agents of intolerant". I loved the guy before he said that.

Sorry, but I need to rant. I'm disappointed in my nation for playing so easily into the hands of rhetoric and demagoguery.

When you compare both parties, it has been the republicans that have done most of the negative ads. I think one of the republican campaign mangers were on fox last week, saying they need more negative campaigning if McCain has a chance.

This was a smear against her, just as bad as having smears against Obama. I condemn this, regardless where it is coming from.

I don't like smears at all. My mother froths at the mouth whenever Palin gets mentioned, I have to remind her constantly NOT to demonize her.

I was considering voting for Barr, but he's more a republican than a real libertarian. I also was thinking about Nader too. I went with Obama, but voted for two republicans, two other democrats and a libertarian in all.


But anyways, this thread is to rant about how the campaigns have pissed you off and such, not for another debate.

I totally agree with your assessment. And from my perspective the "dirty" part, although played by both candidates, was very evidently used more by the Repubs.

And it has cost them the election. Perhaps Obama's relatively more message oriented campaign will resonate for future elections. Hopefully Rovism dies this time around.
