    Default Agents

Will Agents be any different or have new abilities in Dominion of the Sword?

I don't think it's possible to change the abilities agents very much. New skins are possible but I don't know about that, but I guess that isn't a priority of the team atm (ofcourse I can't know, just a guess).

I remeber how Spys in the first Medieval were able to attempt revealing damaging information of Characters i.e. being a homosexual, murderer, heretic etc.

I wouldn't mind this Mod to introduce something like that as long as it doesn't create too many problems.

We are modifying the agents, but I'm not working in this area, so I have little idea exactly what is being modified and to what extent.

Really, is there anything in which you CAN divulge at the moment?

Sorry, OdinX, I do tend to beat around the bush a lot.

    Here is some more:
There has been some talk about scrapping priests because they convert the population far too quickly to be realistic and make it too easy for the player to controll a province of a different religion. There was also talk of removing the unrealistic vanilla papal elections, which would have happened automatically if there were no priests: a new Pope would spawn without an election, because there would be no Preferati. I don't know if this idea was confirmed or dropped. There was also some rather vague talk about changing some other agents, but I don't know too much about this.

I actually quite like the idea of scrapping priests, to be honest...

I agree. I'd also like to see merchants go bye-bye.

yeah... they were pretty useless, as the system is way too simplistic, and they hardly generate any money anyway...

If this isn't possible, then I'd at least like to able to disband them. As a matter of fact, I think that would be better; I think every unit should be able to be disbanded with the exception of royalty of course.
That actually might be good if you could assasinate political rivals (disloyal nobles) especially - and maybe if the noble found out, it could trigger civil war...
Well, it would be nice if it is possible on the engine... :hmmm:

Sure I agree with the priests. But maybe if the merchants could be modified to actually generate some hard cash then I don't see a reason why to get rid of them.

There have been 217 popes from Italy, 17 from France, 13 Greeks, 8 from Germany, 3 from Spain, 3 from Africa, and one each from Galilee (Palestine) (Saint Peter), England (Adrian IV), Portugal (John XXI), the Netherlands (Adrian VI), Switzerland and Poland (John Paul II).

Yeah... I suppose... maybe they could make trades in amber, ivory, silk, gold, or spices etc. really lucrative - that would be good...

Most of the medieval popes were Italians (but certainly not all), and, yes, it is very likely that the unrealistic papal elections will be removed. It seems that the priest character will also be removed. And you won't have to worry about the mad vanilla inquisitors. Of the possible more positive changes to the characters, it's yet too early to reveal anything. But we still have to discuss the features with our new members.

The Popes until early 10th century were of greek origin...as all the "patriarchs"(Pope was one of them)!
TGC in order to continue its development seak one or more desicated scripters to put our campaign scripts mess to an order plus to create new events and create the finall missing factions recruitment system. In return TGC will give permision to those that will help to use its material stepe by step. The result will be a fully released TGC plus many mods that will benefit TGC's material.
Despite the mod is dead does not mean that anyone can use its material

Have to do a little bit of nit-picking, mate, because they all weren't born in Greece. For instance: John IV, John VIII, Adrian I (just to mention a few).

As for my comment, I admit that I didn't do the math (because I hate math), but throughout the Middle Ages Italy was the predominant place of birth in any case.

I've red that the last greek pope was pope Zacharias ..., and that was before Rome rebelled against Byzantium, and that is thus before 750.
