    Default Details about AOR Units

    Although there are too many conversations here about AOR Units, it is not clear for me which units can every faction recruit and in which settlement.

    At first I thought that every faction can recruit every aor unit that is available in the specific area. But afterwards I understood that every faction has its own aor units, or am I wrong? :hmmm:

    Anyway, there is still the problem about which aor units can a faction recruit in every specific settlement. This is not specified inside the game, as the descreption of barracks and aor barracks is general and the same for every building. And it is very expensive to build aor barracks just to see that you cannot recruit some useful units.

    So the question is, where can I find very detailed information about what aor unit can every faction recruit in which settlement?

    Great post Athenogoras, some good info there.

    Another good guideline is that barbarians have a very restricted AOR, Romans can't recruit Greek infantry, and Carthaginians get some extra African and Iberian AOR troops. Ptolemies also get some extra's in East Africa, I think.

    Some more questions:

    1. If I understand well, the "merc" label does not mean that these troops are mercenaries, but actually these are the aor units that every faction can recruit. Correct me please if I am wrong.

    2. What is the "Unique AOR"?

    3. As I see, greek cities are not mentioned for rhodian slingers & cretan archers. That means that GCS cannot recruit these valuable units? Is there any way to recruit them as GCS? Or are there available only as mercenaries, with all the restrictions that means?

    4. Why macedons are only mentioned in Bactria? That means they cannot recruit any aor unit in any other area? :hmmm:

    Thanks for the rep lads. But credit goes to DBH. The EDB is very simple and easy to understand. It was just a cut and paste job.

    1. Dont mind the merc-label. These are the AOR-troops. Recruitable the same way as your faction-troops. Many of these AOR-units are also available as mercenaries(for example thracian peltasts) Meaning you can retrain your mercenaries at an AOR-barrack.(If they are recruitable as AOR units of course).

    2. This means than not all AOR-units are available for all factions. Mainly for historical reasons.

    3. See answer next post

    4. Macedon are a greek faction. Look for the greek-label to find out where to recruit.

    Just to clarify something about the Rhodians and Cretans. The greek faction can recruit those as AOR units in their respective regions. They don't appear on the list Athenogoras posted here because that's a list of units that all the factions can recruit from the AOR barracks and the Greek factions (except for Ptolemy) recruit those two units from their normal barracks even though they are AOR units. Hope that clears it up for you!

    This is indeed true, Cretans and Rhodians are available to the Greeks in the regular barracks at their respective cities.
