Scarface, what I am worried about is the ability for the English
to transfer armies back and forth between their provinces
in continental Europe and the British Isles. (in order to stop
the French blitzing the English territories in continental Europe)
Here is a file davescarface gave to me for creating a landbridge between England and France. I personally find it helps and makes the game more enjoyable for me, but others do not find this so. Test this out at your own risk and backup your old files incase you want to go back to the original.
Again, all credits for this landbridge go to dave, I'm just relaying the file here.
Just unzip and replace the file in Sega>medieval2>mods>data>maps>base. MAKE SURE YOU DELETE MAP.RMW OR IT WILL NOT WORK.
It's very interesting to look MTW2 under the hood.
To Dave:
I'm curious, perhaps may you explain what are the green and white spots over the rivers? (the reds I think are volcanos).
Thanks.

The green are land bridges, the white are the river sources and the cyan are river crossing tiles, like bridges when a road is present. And the red one you are right, they are volcanos.

When this mod first started out over a year ago it had all of the land bridges included in it from the Bigmap. Some of these did not work out well and were removed for a reason. The land bridge between England and France was a particualr problem because the english were having a hard enough time defending their land from the scots. With the land bridge in place however the threat from France was even greater and on many occassions I saw France take over England. I fail to see how this could change. And the idea that the England AI can somehow manage to reinforce northern France while holding off the irish, welsh, and scots is very unlikely. Also the french are one of the largest factions in europe. And the english would lose against them every time. Finally and importantly the campaign playing England is hard enough and I will not make it anymore more so.

Playing as England imo alone is the easiest campaign. All you gotta do is conquer the kingdoms unite them. After that you got an island nation thats almost impossible to take over as long as you got an excellent fleet. Also a good staging point for sending troops into russian terriotory. You come by sea, you will be rewarded with riches and glee. Haha, well France is easy to take over as long as you destroy the opposing factions in the british isle. Gotta say playing English is by far the easiest campaign to play. All you gotta do is move south or east as soon as your done with uniting your empire. Its easy because you know that you will have less threats coming from the west so you can have your forces going east, and a quick reaction force and navy on the isles defending the west.
Well the difficulty in the English campaign to to actually unite the isles while fending off france. It's true though, once one nation conquers the britain and ireland, they are pretty much unstoppable.
I'm curious, were you playing with the garrison script? Because we had a guy claiming the same as this before. Turns out he wasn't even playing with the script.. and not on VH either. I think there are plenty of posts in this forum that testify that the England campaign is not to easy. Infact I've had quite the opposite. People claimed the mod was flawed because its to hard. If you claim that the England campaign is the easiest campaign, then you clearly know nothing about this mod.Playing as England imo alone is the easiest campaign. I agree, not the easiest to start with, might even loose a province in Ireland, but once you get the economy going you are pretty much undestructible

I can't deny that the English campaign gets easy once you have Wales and Scotland defeated. But what do you really expect me to do about that? Due to the geographical position of the British Isles it is very hard for anyone else in europe to ever challenge England. Once you get over the tough start, you will be in a comfortable position on your island fortress. But compared to playing England in the original game this is still a challenge at least to begin with. And I dismiss all talk of this campaign being to easy. The England campaign could never be made to maintain a tough challenge throughout. Once you have took over the island thats always pretty much gonna be it.I agree, not the easiest to start with, might even loose a province in Ireland, but once you get the economy going you are pretty much undestructible

maybe we could add some of the weaker Bristish isles provinces as targets for many factions...
Another stuff done in other mods is to add a higher rebel spawing rate, again for certain provinces... (wales, ireland & scotland) when controlled by English. This will make players needing to leave some armies at home and weeken their conquest capabilities...

Thanks for these suggestions, but giving more factions english targets will not make a bit of difference in regards to naval invasions. No matter what you do, you cannot get France and other countries to invade England by sea. Also increasing the brigand spawn rate is very bad for the AI's perfomance on the campaign map.
The best way to achieve what you want is to put the land bridge back in between England and the rest of europe. However while doing this will increase the difficulty for the player. It will also mean that England under AI control will be defeated early on in every campaign. So maybe then, only use the land bridge when playing as England yourself. You can grab the file that enables a land bridge between England and France in post 5 of this thread. Instructions: Delete the map.rwm and simply place the file in SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\kingdoms_grand_campaign_mod\data\world\maps\base folder.

Hi dave, I wasn´t complaining, I actually prefer the way it is, in fact, I preferer to start small so I give the main land and Irish provinces to other factions. that makes it challengin enough for me!!!
Maybe, and this is just a sugestion I would love to see a small kingdoms start up, I mean, one or two provinces max per faction.
As you know I am/was involved in a couple of other mods, and at the moment I have no time for them, but I have as a future goal is making a mini mod for yours with this feature.
