    Default What about queens ?

Hey, as a girl that plays this game, i wonder if any modder out there would consider queens ?

What i mean is , queens in the game seem to be just baby machines for husbands, and i would really love to be alble to see a princess become queen and rule in her own right!

Im not quite sure how it would work, maybe making her an agent (revamped princess) or even a general, although im not very sure how that would, work, this is just an idea i have in my head

as to what the queen would do is totally open ... increase happyness, better relations with diplomats etc, caused of cival war because of a women being on the throne ... anything could go really

so im just putting this out there to see if any modders out there would consider it because i really think it would add something to the game ... or tell me that game mechanics etc would make it impossible, and ill go away hehe

    It's impossible. It's a shame but it's impossible.

I'm sure in Barser's Faction Leaders & General's mod Joan of Arc is in there as a general, and has a unique battlefield skin. However, the game still considers her male. As such, I believe you could use a Princess to marry her into the family... and then they would have kids...

... and we all know that women usually ruled through husbands and sons. So did Livia with Caesar Augustus, and later did Messalina through Claudius. And Julia Domna through Septimius Severus. And Aisha, daughter of the Prophet Muhammad. And Empress Eirene through her 2 husbands, and then she ruled alone as the "Faithful Emperor". Also Roxelanne through the Sultan Suleyman. And a very large etcetera.

I also miss the role of a queen, especially for the great importance they had as regents of a regions while the King was gone. When king Alfons IV of Aragon (or Alfons V, depending on the source) conquered Naples, he spent the rest of his life there, and left his wife Margarida the rule of Catalonia. She was, in fact, the Queen, acting almos alone and without the aproval of her husband Alfons.

    Take care!

Unfortunately queens were not that powerful in the medieval period, there are a few cases of them taking over while the heirs were minors but they were usually toppled if they tried to hold more power and sent to a convent. Queens sometimes were more influential than the king, it could be said that they ruled de facto, but they always acted through him even if he was weak.

There was a Byzantine empress that did rule alone and effectively, but other than that I don't think there are other examples of truly reigning queens until Elizabeth I of England.

Well, I can give you some examples: Eirene and Zoe, two byzantine "emperors", being Eirene from VIIIth-IXth Century and Zoe from XIth. Hatshepsut, Queen of Egypt from XVIII dynasty, is another example. Also Giovanna, Queen of Naples in the XVth Century, and also Semiramis of Assyria, but that one could be some sort of legendary queen, I don't know well. There are many examples. Perhaps women did not have as liberty, rights and privileges as men, but they could equally rule in the shadow.

And I was forgetting one of the most important alone-ruling queens of my neighbour country, Castille: Isabel I, the wife of Ferran II the Catholic. It is said that both ruled over Castille and Aragon, but that's not true: Isabella reigned on her domains as if they were independent from Aragon (they where indeed) and little times did anything in Aragonese affairs. But Ferdinand was more possessive, and his control over Aragon extended into Castille, richer and more powerful than the Crown of Aragon.

Isnt there a few agent slots that you can still use that are not used yet? Im sure queens could function as a psuedo-princess, however the actual queen would be differnt in name. Unless princesses can turn into queens like priests do bishops when married to a faction leader, but then again that might not be possible. Outta luck, try mentionin it in the empire total war forums

I belive that as things stand the only way to get a powerfull woman is through the Pope.

On the Odd occasion i get a priest with the "secretly female" trait ( or whatever its called) i try as hard as i can to get her into the Papal throne.

It could be scripted. Some scripting gods out there in TWC might have an idea or two...maybe just not put to use since it won't be easy.
Baird: "Hey! Stop shooting it, you're pissing it off!"

Cole: "You're telling me what not to shoot in here? Look at this ****!"
    _____________
Carmine: "Landown? I heard there's a ****load of grubs down there..."

    Marcus: "More like 10 ****loads"
    _____________
Dom: "Marcus, ya ever seen them feed on imulsion?"

Marcus: "Hmph, they can eat **** and die for all I care..."

There was a queen in Byzantium, Empress of the Romans (Basilissa), when Charlemange became Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire...
