    Icon5 Running ExRM with Rome.exe

(its is Rome.exe isn't it?) Anyway, I'm no modder and can't quite understand the instructions here:
How to run this under RTW.exe:
    1) Open export_descr_units.txt
    2) Delete all instances of shield_wall (should be none in 3.3.3)
    3) Delete all instances of can_swim
    4) Delete all instance of schiltrom
So, I've done that but I can't actually get the game to run, so I don't even know if it's worked! Is there something I need to do to create a shortcut? Any and all help very much appreciated.

That depends. What does the target line in your current shortcut look like? Would you mind pulling up the shortcut properties and posting a screenshot? That may be your problem.

Quinn are you sure it's necessary? I think RomeTW.exe v1.5 can work just fine with those extra attributes.

Why not just create a download for RTW.exe Quinn? That way we won't have som many people asking this samething and not beign able to play.

Really? I didn't know that. Has anyone tried it?

    Two things:
    1) If aqd's right, a separate download won't be necessary. You just have to create the shortcut correctly. If he's not, that'll be a good idea for 3.3.4. I'll release one more version with the requisite files for an RTW installation.
    2) 4.0 is going to be BI only, I'm afraid. We're going to make use of the "horde" feature.

Well whenever version 4 comes out, you will be able to make to installers 1 for BI the other for RTW. However if it is to much problem sorry for the other guys out there. I'll try tomorrow and see if using RTW.exe with ExRM works.

    Edit: 600th post

I had no problem running it on RTW.exe. However I tried to use some gallic units I was certain would have the schiltron but they just had warcry?

    Congratulations on the 600th post!

I took schiltron out. It wasn't working out that well to start with, and Aradan (IIRC) discovered that it needed short_pike to work correctly, too. We discussed it on the board a few months ago, and I think/hope it's in the changelog somewhere.

Ah my mistake then confused it with the ExRM version were using for the hotseats (3.3.3 I think). Quinn do you remember which units have BI features to see how they work on rtw.exe?

    No worries.

Well, it's rather a lot, but it's only the can_swim feature. (The other features have been removed over time.) And, according to Florin, can_swim probably doesn't affect RTW battles.

Vanilla rtrpe has the can_swim attribute by default ever since Maced0n decided to make the game more BI compatible. So, no, it doesn`t crash the game. And doing a search in the vanilla RTRPE v1.9 EDU I`ve just discovered that shield_wall and schiltrom are also used. And while RTRPE was designed to be playable with BI.exe too, it was a RTW v1.5 mod primarily. So you`re good to go apparently.

About the suicidal units. I took it from here:
