OK, Tattoos that cover the whole face may indeed be something extreme that may hint that the person in question has issues with being within the "socially acceptable" standarts. But say a rose tattoo on the arm? That's just nice.

Just offensive ones it should be, not tattoos themselves.

My own work place has one rule: you cannot get a tattoo unless it you are on a holiday/vacation and it has time to fully heal before you return. And we do have to deal with customers - the only real issue at my work is OH&S as we work with fresh produce.

But if you had a swear word or a racist symbol or something...then I can see their point.

    What's the OH&S?

That's why it is better to be the boss than the employee. Bosses can make the rules. employees must follow the rules or find another job. Life works that way on many levels and in many situations.

Try getting married with a tatoo -- you might find your pool of potential mates shiriks.

Your choice, but do not complain about how you have limited your own options.

I've got tats. Never worried me in the women or marriage department. But then again, I don't have them all over my head or hands or even forearms. Most people probably have no idea I have them.

I think that is the point -- you are aware enough that your values are not the same as others. Respect is impotant if we are all to coexist in this quite cramped world that we call home.

Personally -- I do not and have not, but I know many who have. Not a big deal for me personally, but I still insisted on a dress code for my employees. If the military can tatoo without creating problems for uncle surely employees can for private sector and goveernment work.

I think the article is just one of those things that get int the press on a regular basis because it helps maintain readership -- it is not really news nor is it original to thus time or place.

personal taste is not important and can't be used for creating regulations or making exceptions there off.

If you say the people have to cover up thier tattoos then every tattoo has to be covered, no exceptions.

Since it seems I have to give you a reason for posting something: Because it seemed interesting to me for a discussion and to see what others think on it.
