Default Bob Rae to run for Liberal Leader

    http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/...ae-leader.html

I saw this coming a long time ago (few months ago)

What do you liberals think about this? Would you support Rae over Dion? I believe had anyone besides Dion run for PM, the Conservatives wouldn't have won within 11 votes of a Majority government earlier this month.

    Discuss.

I'm not sure which of the Liberal nominees would be best. All I know is that they are going to need to get someone, whose name does not start with D and end with ion.

Agreed. I was embarassed for the Liberal Party that they had such a horrendous loss this election. The Conservatives had nearly twice the votes the Liberals did. They lost 26 seats in Parliament, when the Conservatives gained 19 seats. The NDP(I'm a proud NDP supporter) won 37 seats with an 8 seat increase from last election.

Before Bob Rae can crown himself as the leader of the Liberals, he still must face, and defeat Michael Ignatieff. Should be interesting for a political junkie like myself.

However, unless the Liberals elect one of the many MP's who are slightly more socially/economically Conservative than the rest, I will not even briefly consider them.

Ya, the Conservatives will never lose my riding. They blew out the Liberals in the election. They have a strong, firm grasp over Ottawa. Winning what I believe to be 4/7 ridings in Ottawa. 2/7 went to Liberals and 1/7 went to NDP.

You should be proud of your city.

My city is a Conservative stronghold, was once an NDP stronghold. It's always strange come election day when you realize that your city is divided between the very liberal, and the Conservative, with essentially no moderates.

Which is one of the reasons I want McGuinty to run for the federal leadership. Ontario loves him (he's from Ottawa as well), there hasn't been a PM from ontario in ages either. He's taken a province that was ready to fall apart and turned it around. He did such a good job in ontario that the federal conservatives *cough*Flaherty*cough* felt they needed to attack Ontario and him.

Uh...what Ontario do you live in? Everyone I have met, teachers, students, whatever, no matter how liberal, hate McGuinty and think hes a corrupt good for nothing no body. Too bad the provincial Conservatives are fools. If they hadn't suggested funding for religious schools, I have no doubt they would have made significant inroads.

    I'll have to second that.

Ya, because McGuinty promised to lower taxes, but didn't do anything but raise them...

At a time when Liberals are bleeding seats in Ontario, Bob Rae is NOT the right choice. His NDP government can still be vividly remembered.
