Default Creationism [Kiljan Arslan vs Beren Erchamion]

I will be debating Beren about Creationism more specificly the age of the earth I shall take the side that the earth is at least 4 billion years old, he will take the position that it is less than 10,000 years old.

It is generally accepted the age of the earth is around 4.55 billion years old (maybe plus or minus 10 to 20 million years). This is show by the examples provided,

First we have rocks that have been found over the world the being as old as 3.9 billion years. Their age being proven through radiometric dating. Also within some of those rock,s minerals have been found that jhave been dated to around 4.2 billion years. This shows that the earth would have to be at least 4.2 billion years old in order for them to be there.

Did you know being born into wealth or marrying into wealth really shows you never did anything to earn it?

First of all, Creationism does not necessarily deny the possibility of 4.2 billion-year-old rocks. The first chapter of Genesis states that the earth was "formless and void" (as opposed to nonexistent), and that the Holy Spirit "hovered over the face of the waters." So when I say I believe in a "young earth", I don't necessarily mean that God actually created the planet on the first day. Now I do believe that God created the world as we know it in 6 days, and that life has not existed on Earth for more than 10,000 years. But it's quite possible that there are rocks 4 billion years old.

That said, many aspects of radiometric dating have been shown to be inaccurate. Carbon 14 dating, for instance, is unreliable after 50,000 years: http://www.mnsu.edu/emuseum/archaeol...io_carbon.html.
