In VI, I have to say, I loved my Scottish campaign.

The Welsh are also pretty fun, but extremely challenging because you've pretty much got 2 powerhouses hemming you in: Mercia and the Saxons. The only possible way to survive (I play on expert) is to ally with one and hope they war with each other before they go to war with you.

Another vote for the Byzantines. Simply my favorite faction. I also have miniature armies of them in 15mm and 25mm scales.

Italians, Early Byzantines (eventually you have to rely on mercs), Egyptians, Late Turks (interesting units), but mainly potentially rich factions.

HRE in the basic game, the Vikings in the expansion, but I've also played Wessex extensively.

One more for the Byzantines, with England, Russia, and the Turks being all high up on the same level. The only trouble with the Byzantines is that you lose the ability to train some of your best units in the late game. And Pronoiai Allagion are ridiculously expensive, though good.

The Holy Roman Empire in MTW. I also liked to play Denmark, France, England and Spain.

In Viking Invasion I naturally loved to play the Vikings. Wessex used to be fun, too.
