I don't get the point of this thread. Should we feel more negatively about Obama now because the Washington Times lost their seat on the plane?:hmmm:

I was all excited, and then I read this:

"This feels like the journalistic equivalent of redistributing the wealth."
I have a sneaking suspicion these guys are obnoxious deuchebags.

Reporter: "Senator Hussein Obama, why do you hate Amurka?"

    Obama: "..."

    Reporter: "?"

Obama: "... Get off my plane."

Its the Washington times I'd kick them off too, but that's just because I don't like Sun Yun Moon or whatever the ing hell his name is. Basically a reactionary paper got told they couldn't be on, boo hoo. The Washington times is so right wing it makes fox news look liberal.

wouldn't surprise me if the Washington times reporter did say that.

This is perfectly consistant with the anti-free speech agenda of the democrat party.
As a teenager, I was taken to various houses and flats above takeaways in the north of England, to be beaten, tortured and raped over 100 times. I was called a “white slag” and “white ****” as they beat me.

Mmmm good to see that freedom of the press is secondary to winning elections

Have you polished your jackboots yet?

what does this have to do with freedom of the press?

every person has the right to give interviews or not or to let a journalist into their house/plane or not. Limiting the freedom of the press would be to pass a law which forbids them to write anything about the candidates or something like that. The paper can still follow Obama to his conferences, ask for interviews, write whatever they want but it's everyone's personal right to refuse to answer those questions or not let them fly for free in your plane. Actually it's surprising he even let a newspaper which opposes him accompany him.

Does McCain have a Dem.Paper following him in his plane for free? No? omg so he's limiting the freedom of the press from the beginning?

Hey warbird. Anybody who really thought this statement through would realize that if freedom of the press was in any way in danger the linked article wouldn't have been allowed to be published in the first place.

But we can't think about the things we say can we?

No one's preventing free speech here. I'm not sure how you came to this conclusion becuase Obama booted some reporters off of a plane. The reporters aren't muzzled, or prevented from saying (or writing) anything. No one's crying about people getting removed from McCain rallies because of what they wear...

In fact, freedom of speech is prevented so much that the Washington Times gets to report about it at length and even finds people who think that's relevant.

Obama hates freedom of speech just like all the other Muslims.

(Why should a campaign pay for a newspaper to have access to it if they don't like them? Being on Obama's plane is not a right, he was doing them a favour. Whose got a sense of entitlement now?)

Wait, he kicked people off of his plane who were actively supporting the other presidential candidate?

    The scandal!

But seriously, would you pay a flight ticket for people who can't stand you?

Mithie are you listening to yourself? Somehow I don't think you would like it George Bush barred critical reporters from the White House Press Room.

The press room is public property. It belongs to the people and is a tool of office.

    Obama's plane is Obama's plane.

I'd see your point if Obama barred, say, a reporter from Fox News during a public press conference in front of the white house, but a man's plane is a man's plane.

He can kick whoever he wants from his plane. It's his property - kind of like his house.

    Except it flies around.
