My (mixed with other peoples) Ideas for Augustus! – Command an Empire (RS)
Remember, this is slightly un-historically accurate (to make it more fun), like Having Emperors at the start of RS
Name – Impero Regnum (Command an Empire)
Platform – RTW 1.5, with RS 1.5b
Start Date – Same start as RS
Introduction - Impero Regnum is a mod developed on Roma Surrectum for AUGUSTUS! (the Hotseat mod for RTW) in which several human players play 1 nation, in this case the Romans. However, they all do not play in the same faction, and simply pass saves like other hotseats in RTW; Each player is given his or her own faction within that nation. This is achievable by using Mydraal’s clever Hotseat mod, combined with modding RS 1.5b to have all the factions Roman except for the rebels. 1 player will be elected at the start of the game (via a Poll) to be Emperor. This Player will control Rome, and will have the powers to order around the smaller Roman factions, amongst other things already located in the RS game like being able to recruit Praetorians.
Number of factions – 15 (not including rebels)
Factions (names to be discussed) (map taken and adapted from Mikil’s contribution, these are actual regions in RS) -

Purple = The Emperor
Bright Pink (in the South) = Romanized Greeks of Messina
Dark green = Romanized Greeks of Croton
Dark Blue = Romanized Greeks of Tarentum
Yellow = Romans of Cannae
Bright Red = Romans of Ariminium
Light Blue = Romans of Asculum
Grey = Romans of Genoa
Dark Red/Brown = Romanized Babarians of Mediolanium
Turquoise = Romanized Babarians of Patavium
White = Romans of Neapolis
Olive Greek (or leaf green whatever) = Romans of Arretium
Brown/Dirty Yellow = Romans of Capua
Subtle Pink = Romans of Bononia
Orange = Romans of Apulania
Basic Rules (feel free to suggest new or modified rules) –
- Each faction leader should choose their ‘Roman’ name to take them through the whole campaign.
- At the Start of the Game, all of the factions are allied to each other (except Rebels)
- At the Start of the Game, a poll is held to elect the Emperor
- The Emperor has the power to order the factions around, for example to ask them to conquer a certain settlement
- However, each faction leader does have power: You can call a council to question a certain order of the Emperor
- If they have no good reason why they are not following the orders set them, a council is called to decide whether they should be ‘Removed’ from the Empire. If they are removed, the other factions are allowed to declare war on them.
- Whoever controls Rome is the Emperor. You can declare war on the current Emperor, but risk facing consequences from other factions loyal to the Emperor. You can take Rome by force, but remember, you can never force people to be loyal to you.
- If Rome falls to the rebels, the Entire Campaign is lost. (for all the factions)
Changes to AI – The Rebels will have the hardest AI possible, along with masses of troops, both to start with and which spawn everywhere. They will have AOR, so they can’t recruit hoplites in Britain for instance. This will give the hardest possible challenge to the players, who of course have the advantage of being 15 human minds VS. 1 computer
.
Basic Faction Rosters (all the factions will be affected by reforms and suchlike)–
The Emperor – Same unit roster as Roma in RS, with Praetorians.
Romanized Greeks of Messina – Mostly Roman Units, but with a few hoplite units. Roman units are not as strong as purely Roman factions.
Romanized Greeks of Croton – Mostly Roman Units, but with a few hoplite units. Roman units are not as strong as purely Roman factions.
Romanized Greeks of Tarentum – Mostly Roman Units, but with a few hoplite units. Roman units are not as strong as purely Roman factions.
Romans of Cannae – Same unit roster as Roma in RS
Romans of Ariminium - Same unit roster as Roma in RS
Romans of Asculum - Same unit roster as Roma in RS
Romans of Genoa - Same unit roster as Roma in RS
Romanized Babarians of Mediolanium - Same unit roster as Roma in RS, with a few barbarian units. Roman units are not as strong as purely Roman factions.
Romanized Babarians of Patavium - Same unit roster as Roma in RS, with a few barbarian units. Roman units are not as strong as purely Roman factions.
Romans of Neapolis - Same unit roster as Roma in RS
Romans of Arretium - Same unit roster as Roma in RS
Romans of Capua - Same unit roster as Roma in RS
Romans of Bononia = Same Unit roster as Roma in RS
Romans of Apulania = Same Unit roster as Roma in RS
The Modding involved -
A fair amount of coding (implementing factions, changing factions names, putting all the Roman units in 15 different factions), no mapping (will use the original map RS, just different factions), new faction symbols, possibly some new units (Romanized Greeks and Romanized Babarians) and maybe at the end some new loading screens, 2d art etc.

We are still looking for modders! Mainly coders or scripters, because there is very little else to do, but 2d artists and researchers are welcome as well!
Even if you just want to give some ideas, that would be great!
