LAN Multi-player question?

I have played RTRPE now for 6 months or so. I am more a fan of the strategic part of the game. (yea...maybe the only one!). Can anyone tell me if it is possible to Mod RTW or RTR to have LAN games where people play the individual factions on the Strategic map?

Come join Augustus link where you actually play people in the campaign map.

The basic answer is no:

You have to transfer the save game. Which is very inconvenient etc

So then...Is it right to say the game cannot be modified in this way? Or is it just to difficult to attempt? It seems to me that given the size of the "modding community" someone, somewhere would have tried this???

Thanks for the link....got it. However, I also would like to find out...is it not possible to mod the game in this way? Or just too complicated? Does anyone know?

not possible - you can mod only certain parts of the game, and those parts don't include the game engine itself.
