They have been thought of in that way. Another is to think of them as among the fallen angels who rebelled alongside Lucifer. Of course their names come from diverse sources, including the Gods of other Levantine cultures.

I don't think the inclusion of angels and fallen angels (demons) in a belief system qualifies it as being polytheistic according to any standard definition of the term. If, on the other hand, you want to argue that there are strong suggestions that early Judaism was polytheistic in some sense or had a polytheistic heritage, then you would have a good point.

As well as being insulting to any Christians believing this, your comments show that you have read but not understood the bible. You probably believe that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are threee seperate entities, and that Satan, Lucifer and Beelzebub are completely different.

The best way of explaining this concept is like this:

Person A is the father of person B. He will always be the father of person B. Nothing can ever change that. Persona A is also the son of person C. Again, person A has always been the son of person C, and will always remain so. Person A is the brother of person D. Sicne they both existed they have been brothers, and will always be brothers even when one of them has died.

This means that person A is both father, son and brother at the same time. Likewise God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are all God.

I repeat, you have read but not understood. I take it you have either studied these texts at some form of college, or over time in your spare time. You must have not noticed the way Moses ordered the killing of 3000 israelites after the exodus out of eygpt because they were worshipping a statue of Baal, or the commandment reading "You shall have no gods but me", or the constant references to how Jesus "is the father, and the father is me" in the gospels. Judaism may have originated in that way, and been influenced by these religions, just as Catholicism was influenced by the pagan romans. These influences led to certain aspects of buerocracy and tradition being introduced, but very little in the way of core beliefs were changed. I, and the others reading this thread, would appreciate it if you supproted such potentially offensive claims with reasoning, rather than just stating that you have 'an exceptional understanding' of these matters.
