Field Cost Script and Forts

Does the field cost script take money out of my factions coffers for armies that are in forts outside of settlements, or are forts counted as settlements in the script and free of the field cost?

I have noticed if you put named characters in fortresses you seem to lose more money than simply paying the support costs, so i think it may be that troops are support free but generals you lose money

Jonni_g_n is correct. There is no upkeep for the characters, but the field costs still apply. Think of it as, they are still going out to pillage the countryside for supplies.
