how do i kill the aztecs??!!

Small obstacles have come in my way with the Aztecs.
I have conquered them before once with Spain but under extreme circumstances with jenites and conquistadors.

Now I am playing as the Vikings but this time it is much harder. My brave vikings get trampled very easily for some reason by natives. I tried giving them armour upgrades to male and wepon upgrades to steel axes.
This has worked but I am still taking heavy losses.

With so many of the Aztecs heavy losses are tough. I am supplied with only
castle level units (Cuba and Florida) as Norse archers, Huscarls, and raiders with NO upgrades. It is A decade journey with reinforcements from the mainland
(conquered England) with norse clerics, chivilric knights, and sometimes gunpowder wepons. My simple question is how do you deal with these,

you attack them with what they're lacking to counter you with, then do so with extreme prejudice

but even the best cavelry in the game gets trampled easily by them....

Just use pretty normal tactics mixed army with at least five(mor if its a full stack) heavy infantry, a few archer units and of course a bunch if heavy cav. It works against every faction.

yes but they always jump them before they even shoot twice + when i try
to defend them from geting jumped my infantry gets slaughtered and we
all know gun powders cant shoot over heads so ya,........i hate to be
negative but i tried longbowmen too

try something else then simple Block vs Block army attack

If you make formations in different shapes, you can lure aztecs into battle, and have an open space to shoot with the muskets

Remember also that you can use other things than just simple might to win wars. Take agents with your armies, hopefully at least 2 or 3 of each. Use spies to keep track of what they're doing / building, use assassins to not only target family members, but also destroy any and all buildings they can in enemy settlements (this has worked wonders for me in the past). The priests can begin the "wonderful" conversion process, increasing chances of rebellion among the aztecs, and decreasing them for you when you occupy a settlement. And use diplomats to establish some kind of ceasefire if possible, to maybe give you a breather, or try bribing some of their armies (at this point I would hope your economy is strong enough to allow you to "buy" your way out of a battle or two).

Charge heavy cavalry into them, and as soon as the charge bogs down pull them back far enough for another charge. Repeat until victory. Five units of heavy cavalry should be enough to take out an entire Aztec army. Mounted archers are also deadly to the Aztecs since they don't wear armor.

As New Spain, in Kingdoms, heavy cav were deadly against ANY native faction I encountered.

I can also tell you that, playing as Aztecs in Kingdoms, I am deathly scared of New Spain's Conquistadores.

Set up a line on a hill, with Dismounted Conquistadores, Sword Buckler men, and/or native mercenary infantry; and deploy at least 6 cav (3 per side) out wide on the flanks. Deploy your infantry line far enough back that the opponent has to run a bit to get to them. Your cav should be forward of your infantry, out to the sides, and faced so that they can charge straight into the sides of the advancing mob. For better results, deploy far enough out to the sides that your cav is not the first thing targeted by the opponent.

As the enemy runs up to your infantry line, charge in from both sides with cav, targeting the softest units (lightly armored infantry and archers). A well executed cav charge into the front of archers or into the backs of Eagle warriors will all but obliterate the unit in the first 3 seconds. After that, if the unit has not routed (especially units like Eagles, Jaguars and priests) GET OUT FAST!! Do NOT stand around and melee, as your horses will get turned into lunch meat. Escape and set up for another charge. 6 to 8 heavy cav, working in concert --with you riding the pause button to ensure charges and retreats are done in a timely manner-- will obliterate the enemy in very, very short order.

I would think that England would fare well, too; even though their cav is weaker than Conquisadores. I would field stacks of:

1 General
7 Chivalric Knights
10 English Armored swords
2 Longbows

-OR-

1 General
13 Chivalric Knights
6 native mercenaries

I could see any of the western european powers executing either of these general strategies handily, although the Italians might have a problem with fratricide from their excellent crossbows. In any case, the infantry line is mainly there to draw the opponent's attention to something, while the cav slays them from behind.

historically not, but campaign wise its a valid and really efficient strategy

and I find it funny when people suddenly feel remorse or have moral objections about a game like Total War (whatever title you play). you go to war with no reason but to conquer, you attack, you burn down cities for a more comfortable rule due to religious differences, you execute prisoners, you pillage land and block ports, you siege until cities are starved to death and surrender or take them by force, you marry your daughters to the best bid and use agents to literally destroy centers of population and kill off the opponents noble family, gladly hang any rebel you find on a tree as you percieve them an annoyance

the thread is full about "how to kill hte aztecs" and is even called "how do I kill the Aztecs?" but to bring the plague to fight the aztecs is suddenly a no go... wooohaaa

It's gunpowder that is the key to beat the Aztecs. They have no armour technology so a few musketeers(or the arques guys) should shoot them to the floor. Plus cannon fire scares the living hell out of them but have pikemen if you can't get gunpowder

The way I see it though, since they have no armour wouldn't it just be the morale effect of gunpowder thats useful? Because if they have no armour A simple arrow or bolt in the chest would be more than enough,.....the problem would be getting enough archers to put an arrow in all of them.... lol

Easiest way, if you keeping getting mashed in field battles is to avoid them like the plague. Take Gunpowder, couple of cannons minimum and then try and fast march, avoiding any stacks of aztecs till you reach a city. then assault straight away. You should be able to really hurt the aztecs with the cannons.

If you do get caught in field battles, remember that their infantry ALWAYS will beat yours, and they have semi-decent missile units. Fight them the same as you would any european enemy that has impressive infantry and missile units, take out his missiles with cavalry, and force his infantry to break. If you can, position cannons so that they cannot be attacked, and if necessary easily retreated. They should be able to whittle down their strongest units, or kill the general (a win is a win, right?) Gunners placed on a hill helps with not being able to shoot over heads. Then use cavalry on the wings, to take out their archers and to flank the infantry. The trick lies in making their infantry break, one they start running you can butcher them
