    8Gb Ram?! damn...

That PC should be good enough to play on highest settings...
Even ith my PC ( 2gb ram, dual core )the game runs without lags even on highest setting with Huge unit size ( only AA does not work cuz i don't have quite a good graphic card.

    My specs are:
    -nvidia 8600gt oc 512mb 647 mhz(like medium of a ps3) P.S : 930mhz=PS3speed
    -Processor dual core 4000+
    -2.11 gb RAM

    Performance on SPQR:
    -highest.
-I tried playing HUGE with about 6500 men on the field. I lagged!
Good FPS would be 30, but i got about 21-27 FPS with this mod.
Well thats me running on huge. I switched to large and it was running fine
It just lags when SOLDIERS crumple up together in one space.

My performances on other games are..:

-my pc is fast enough to run crysis low-high.
-I can run call of duty 4 on high. Asassin's creed on high. And Brothers and arms hells highway on high.

Legionary_pullo, Since your on an 8gb RAM, I think your computer is awesome.
with 8gb, loading times are FASTER, and things dont load while you play. Example, i play brothers in arms hells highway, but when i get close i can stilL see some "things" generating.
    Memory= good.

Now tell me your processor. Mine, 4000+, pretty slow .
If you got the processor and the memory, you can play really good.

or... if you feel lazy, you can back up your "data" folder by copying it, then try the mod out for urself..

I'd get 4 gigs of ram personally and use the remaining cash to buy improved CPU and GPU components or heck even a widescreen monitor right before Empire comes out.

Ram is more of a status statement, you will NEVER use that much RAM or close to it in a Game.

As for Dual Core go with the E8400 it works the Best in My opinion of all the dual cores.
I use a 8800GTS card and can play SPQR on Higheest settings except Units I play on HIGH.

Reason for that is HIGHEST settings in RTW removed Sprites which is what causes massive lag.

Zhao-yun play SPQR with all settings highest EXCEPT FOR UNITS set that to HIGH. I bet your game will Vastly Improve!

8gbs of ram will not be noticeable and you wont see any improvement over 4gb, save that extra money and get better CPU or GPU.

    AVE!!

General, 8 GB Ram? You spent money so my friend ... What operating system (S.O) are you using?
Windows XP 32bit only recognizes 3.25 GB and XP 64bit 4GB.
Windows Vista until recognizes the 4 GB but not the use alltogether. I have almost the same setting that you and with 4 gb, but already with 2 gb the SPQR works perfectly.

I have the MSI 8800GTS video card. Is the best to play any game.
Especially the SPQR mod. If you can buy, you'll like it a lot. I advise General

Actually, the game is PRETTY smooth on HIGH, everything high *not highest*.

Even on huge amounts of soldiers.
Problem is, it just lags whenver for example.... 4000 men crumple up in a space.. like say... ants... it alwasy lags down to 17-25 fps 0_o. But with the troops seperate (as in lined up) its fairly smooth

I see some "reflections" and "bloom effects". Probably the cause of lag? Well not the reflections, I MEAN the reflection of Light itself. Like if you ahve a white shirt, it caused a bloom effect. And i guess that causes lag

I have 2 gigs with a 8800GT (OC) and I get no lag with most games pumped up too max settings. So 8 gigs I think is bit much, but hey w/e tickles your fancy I guess.

You only need 3 GB, 4 at the most. Take that money ans spend it on a better graphics card/processor.
