Default Lack of historically incoherence in SPQR?

    Although an excellent modd!
    Probably the best there is.
    Installing it again,
But the BARBARIANS just keep on coming..
    But come on!

IS there any simple way to reduce the laughable way
    they reproduce?
The Gauls must have many women.. i quess...

This is how you play it...
    well historically it wasnt so..
The Gauls massed let us say 300.000 men or more
at the battles of Caesars age...
But in SPQR they keep on coming..

    Give me a break.
    Give a Barbarian reducer script!...

    Incoherence?

Well the sword-auxillia, wasnt meant the way it is in
roman warfare, it was meant to be supportive,
    not to be "mass-slaughter" SPQR-way...
    well...?

well this mod isn' t meant to be historicaly correct. LT mad this mod becous he likes to play it this way. gauls are set to be aggressive so if you want them to stop attacking that much you should change this. for more information on how to do this i would refer to the workshops on the forum.

The sword auxilia are the way they are, to replace roman legionaries. So they fight the same way as legionaries, they are just not as good. They aren't necessarily historically accurate this way, you are correct on that.

the vast majority of auxilia cohorts were equipped in the same way as the legionnaires (minus the segmentata, which incidentally was not universal among the legions anyway) - they fought as heavy infantry, specifically swordsmen, throwing javelins before closing -some units may have had spears as well, and fought with them, but that varied from unit to unit, and all auxiliary infantry were equipped with a gladius and clipeus (flat oval shield) (unless they were a specialist unit like archers or slingers or something, or the scutata cohorts which used a legionary scutum instead). This vanilla RTW idea of Auxilia = spearmen is complete bollocks.

To reduce the amount of stacks you face edit the export_descr_building file, search for roads [use ctrl f] and reduce the trade_base_income_bonus bonus from 3 to either 0 or 1, this reduces barb stacks only as they only got 1 tier of road.

    good stuff posted above

just wanna add/repeat, LT made this the way he liked to play RTW, he made the gameplay much better, the historical things too, but it can't be perfect

if you want a "perfect" (better that is) historical game, play EB i guess
but to me, due to they being too precise, it killed the game play for me

    7. SPQR: Total War is not set for complete realism but is intended to enhance gameplay with some realism added.
